- Shin Seiki Evangelion - and everything we've lost disappears by vagrancy - I tend to fear stepping into the Evangelion fandom, I wouldn't even know where to start looking for fic. But I was journal hopping tonight and happened to see this author had written Eva fic and I wanted to give it a chance. I am extremely glad I did so because it's a beautiful piece, 24 scenes from the course of the series, all of them just utterly heartwrenching or aching to read. It's the connections between all of these people, so much pain in all of their lives, which was on full display here, and it's... it's not like I want the Eva characters to be unhappy, it's not like I like reading fic where people are miserable, but these characters went through so much and this fic shows that so well. I love the way the fic never let up and I love how impactful each of these scenes is, I really like the way the author structured it. I love this kind of Eva fic, even if it is a bit hard to read. (Mostly gen, but there are implications of many pairings that were implied in the series.)
- Xiaolin Showdown - Chicken Soup for the Evildoer's Soul by avi17 - This was just a short, cute little fic about Jack being sick, Chase visiting because he was wondering where the hell the annoying imbecile had gone, and then kissing! What made it work for me, though, was the way I could hear/see everything in my head just well enough that I bought the whole thing. It was fun! <3 (Chase/Jack.)
- Xiaolin Showdown - Evil by Servant Gabrielle - What I wound up really liking about this fic was the way the dialogue just popped right into my head with the characters' voices, it really didn't take much work on my part to hear them, which is always nice. This was just a fun, cute little silly thing that was a nice fix for when I really just wanted some worthwhile Xiaolin Showdown fic! :D (Chase/Jack.)
- Xiaolin Showdown - The Summoning by calamity_bebop - You know, I never really expected to find much genuinely well-written Xiaolin Showdown fanfic. I knew the fondness I had for the show was totally batshit and that, despite it being an utterly delightful retarded show, the fandom was... not a place I suspected I wanted to be. However! I have found a few pieces I've liked and this is quite possibly my new favorite--the characterization is fantastic, the actual writing and descriptions are incredibly solid, and there's even a hint of porn! And humor! I was laughing during the entire summoning scene because it fit with the series' sense of humor so well. There's a really nice Halloween feel to the story (which was extra appropriate for me, since I read the story almost exactly a year after it was posted) and that fits well with the characters used and... yeah, it's well written Chase/Jack fic. I was not expecting that tonight! Certainly not more than once. ♥ (Chase/Jack, I'd rate it a very light R.)
- Xiaolin Showdown - Snow Dance by calamity_bebop - I was a little wary of this fic... Chase and Jack in the snow? They... did not quite seem like a pairing that would fit in well with moments of cuteness in the snow. But I liked the author's previous fic, so I wanted to give this one a shot. I'm very, very glad I did because it's another fic that's actually well-written on a technical level as well as well characterized. I could see the whole thing in my head, there were little moments of utter hilarity that were perfect for the series (asdlfjaslkj I had to XD-face a lot at the Jackbot's reaction when it accidentally threw a snowball at Chase), and even a really cool explanation for where Jack had been the last couple of weeks and hints of his home life. And, yes, there was kissing in the snow, you knew it was sort of eventual, but it was good kissing in the snow and it was very much Chase and Jack and I loved it. Fantastic writing and I just... I loved it! <3 (Chase/Jack.)
- xxxHOLiC - Sanctuary by lady_kikyou - I snatched the link for this fic from this recs post and I'm glad I did, because she was right about this fic being a fluffy, cute look at Clow and Yuuko's takes on the world. It's just a quiet moment in a grassy field while the sun sets and they both look at the world a little differently, just a nice little piece that I liked since I've been slipping back into a HOLiC mood lately. (Clow/Yuuko.)
- xxxHOLiC - A Wish is Just a Dream You Can't Sell by clockwork starlight - Also from the same recs post as above, another Clow/Yuuko piece and I am very glad I started clicking links tonight. (And that there are people out there also willing to recommend fic, so I get to read these gems. ♥) Because this is a gorgeous piece on Yuuko and her relationship with Clow, so much under the surface and so much that's not quite bitter, but still slightly jaded. So Yuuko. Her not-quite-wish, the way she pays for her own memories and experiences, the way her relationship with Clow was shown in this fic, it's all fantastic. I'm not sure if it's better for the pairing or for the insight on Yuuko's character. Thankfully, they're blended together wonderfully here. (Clow/Yuuko.)
- D.Gray-man - Pcube [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I was pretty sure I was going to like this site right from the beginning and the group illustrations of the four main Exorcists pretty well confirmed that. They were adorable and I love, love, love group stuff. But then there was a really adorable illustration of Komui and Rinali, which there is not nearly enough art for. Then there was art pairing Rinali up with all three of the main boys and, well, I'm a sucker for a lot of those pairings. I'm easy for any Ravi/Rinali art, especially when it's cute, but I was officiall sold in the series of Rinali pairing art when she had her hair up in a ponytail just like Kanda's while he gave her a >_> look. SO. CUTE. And that's what really sold me on the site--while the artist is very good, her characters are very cute and her b&w sketches+comics are pretty awesome, it was how much she was clearly having fun with the characters that I loved. The group illustrations alone are totally worth a trip to the site. ♥ (Some Kanda/Rinali, some Ravi/Rinali, some Allen/Rinali, but it's also very much a gen site.)
- Dragonball Z - Jun.100% [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Oh, hey! Not only is this a cute Dragonball site, it's a Trunks+Goten site! And there's a ton of oekaki art shoved into the galleries, all this adorable art of them being retarded demi-saiyajin best friends, which is exactly what I love about them. And, you know, I don't think I saw a single kissing (or anything more) image on the site, it was just Trunks and Goten getting into scrapes or being such boys together and I love that. I really liked how well the artist did with the Dragonball style as well, they were totally recognizable as themselves and the poses they were put into all felt very Dragonball as well. Just a fun, nice site, especially for a pairing (well, this site is gen) that I don't get to see often enough. (Trunks+Goten if you want to see it that way, though, the site is totally gen.)
- Dragonball Z - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Oh, man, the art on this site is so hot, especially whenever the artist draws the SSJ4 character designs and then has them lounging around. Just. So, so hot, with all that power and deadly grace aparent in every draped limb. And all that hair, too. Plus, holy hell, the het pairings are also so hot on this site. Goku/Chichi and Vejiita/Bulma (asdlfkjlakjs the one where they're speeding along on a motorcycle in their wedding clothes! awesome!) are awesome and, hell, even the gen stuff is totally action-oriented and amazingly detailed. And did I mention so hot? I'm not sure if that came across. (Goku/Chichi, Vejiita/Bulma, some Goku/Pan, some other het, a lot of gen.)
- Dragonball Z - RP [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is a site that's not necessarly going to convert anyone to being a fan of Dragonball, but if you already like the series, you'll probably enjoy the site at least a little. The art style is very much like the anime's style, right down to the right cel-style coloring, and that worked for me on this site. It helped that the artist drew most of the main canon het pairings and a lot of my favorite characters. There's a fair amount of art here and it's all very solid. A good fix if you're looking for more Dragonball art. (Some canon het, a lot of gen.)
- Gundam Wing - Wing-Layer [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is a site that I could almost swear I've been to before, but a scan through my fanart links couldn't turn it up. Maybe it just got a new URL, so I can't find it or maybe I've been here before but not reccommended it (that seems unlikely) or maybe I'm just hallucinating. So, if this is a re-rec... well, there's art from 2007 on the site, so it may be worth another visit. Even a year ago, this artist was drawing some really impressive stuff, the level of detail is fantastic and I love the way she draws Heero and Duo's hair/eyes especially. Or the chibis! Her series of the pilots + Relena as chibis are so cute omg. And, holy hell, there's this one of Duo about to punch someone/something, where he's got this intense expression on his face, and it's so hot because Duo is totally badass sometimes, too. There's some truly beautiful art on the site, even the sketches are just gorgeous. It's not just a good site for GundamW, it's a good site period. ♥ (Heero/Duo, a lot of gen on the site, too.)
- Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - Chica [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I feel like maybe I've recommended this site before. But I don't see it on my recs list, so if it's a re-rec... well, that happens sometimes! And I really do like this site, I took to it almost immediately, with the very lovely watercolor-esque illustrations of Kurou and Nozomi. They're very warm, sweet images, very adorable and make me just want to coo at how warm-hearted everything is in her color images. Her b&w images aren't as common, but looking at them was a treat because you could see how talented the artist really was--there's one of Kurou/Nozomi where they're lying back together, their hair spilling out around them and all this gorgeous detail on their clothes, it's one of my very favorites from the site. ♥ (Mostly Kurou/Nozomi, a smidge of gen, and a little other/Nozomi het.)
- Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Wow, it did not take me long at all to fall in love with ths site. The artist uses these really beautiful light pastel colors that work so well in the game, but still has her own style so it's just... this really pretty blend of the two. Her characters are so soft and lovely to look at, her illustrations are so often... I'm not sure I can put my finger on it, because it's not like they're super-detailed (though, they have a lot of very nice details, especially the way she draws their clothes and hair omg *__*) but they feel very... satisfying, very finished. I really loved this site a lot. ♥ (A lot of everyone/Nozomi het, some everyone/Akane het, but worth it for the gen, too.)

But maybe Rebuild has ignited my interest again or I just happened to luck into one I'd never seen before. But I adore this site so much, the art is really pretty adorable, both Shinji and Kaworu are often just really cute. For the most part, there's not as much fully finished art pieces in the galleries, but I wound up really liking the sketches/oekaki scribbles a lot, too, you can see how strong the artist's style is in a lot of them and it helps that there's a TON of them. It's one of those sites that does occasionally have some more serious pieces, but the artist is mostly focused on drawing them in traditional clothing or with little kidlets running around or them running around as chibis or snuggling in a bed together or just smiling at each other. Maybe not for everyone, but sometimes I really, really just want a happy site that makes me heartmark a lot for the super, super adorable, pretty art. This site totally accomplished that. And holy crap there is a TON of art here, awesome! ♥ (Kaworu/Shinji.)
