Picky Reader

I'v come to realise that maybe a picky reader and there's no way around it.

I know the reason why of course, mostly from college teachings on what makes a good story for social media like tv, movies and most important to me, comics. But never books or novels for some reason or at least that was never a medium of art to find good stories that relate to mine. I think this is true since novels are their own art that has to change drastically to fit any other artform like books to movies for example.

This aside, I still want a story that is character driven, I desire stories that made Pixar, Harry Potter, DiscWorld so phenomenal. I want to see a character suffer or struggling from the beginning and fight his way to be the hero. Plus I want this in a fantasy world setting, someplace to get lost in and return to another time.

I've practically given up on finding such stories by even the best furry writers since most lean towards romance or based around theme/trait that they love(fetish). I'm still combing through Amazon these days to find that golden gem of a fantasy story. I have even browsed through the young adult section since that's how I found Artemis Fowl which has become a series I've out grown.

I still miss reading novels though, it was something I can sit down for a long time and get lost for a long time. Graphic novels (which I want to write and draw someday) are great but damn can I burn through some of my favourite in a hurry sometimes. The only benefit is that I can easily re-read it anytime I want.
