Whee! Back in the swing of things in Manchester. Spent the whole day slaving over a hot computer, writing a dating section for lagoslive.com... it is proving to be much fun actually. I also *bought* a bit of software... *gasp*! It's probably the most boring bit of software ever too: Textmate... Works beautifully though... I can even blog from it, so they say!
Anyway... finished work at 7, then rushed round to Ian's to look at bidding for some more work, and do a bit of work on some projects like myspacecontroller.co.uk. Also ate chicken curry. Yum!
Directly after that, jumped on bus to the mint lounge. Gwen had invited me out there, but turned out it was tickets only. Jarvis Cocker was DJing, and it was well and truely sold out. Wondering what do do, and wandering around outside the mint lounge, I bumped into my friend Becky, who had travelled all the way up from Leamington Spa and also had no ticket. So we went for a drink in Simple, and caught up with stuff. Then we went and looked melancholy outside the mint lounge. A bit later, someone took pity on us and we were whisked inside.
For the entirety of the set, Jarvis Cocker looked incredibly cool, like he was posing for pictures the whole time. He played some good music too...
Hannah, Jen, Eleanor and co were there. Good to see everyone after my 8 days away. Also there was Gwen - and it's been so long since I'd seen her. Was good to catch up. Got bus back around 2.30 and caught up with things - she's off to Paris next week, for a month. Was cool to see her again.
It's still light outside... tomorrow I'm going to cane it with the website work, then maybe do a bit of guitar playing and singing (it's been *sooooo* long, and I was without guitar in Italy) before heading to Plat Fields in the evening for a big reggae festival.... (any of you Mancunians know much about this???? I just heard about it on the grapevine... sounds good though!)
I've been booked to play in Exmouth on the 30th - but that's the day I'm moving house. Have I gone crazy??? Looks like a very worthwhile gig though. I think it might be possible if I move out early and store some boxes somewhere....
