Stryker and Loveline

I have rather patiently accepted the fact that television is quickly losing interest in scripted programming. Reality TV is just too easy. Usually the shows just cost too little to make and bring in too many viewers for the networks to waste much money on a show that much thought is put into. This sad fact, it is my belief, is one of the greatest shortcomings of humanity. It lowers the standards of every individual under the age of 10 growing up, who are also coming to terms with the massive linguistic handicap of living in the 'LOL' and 'ZOMG' state that we find ourselves in nowadays.

So to recap, we are up to two of the largest media/entertainment outlets known to man. Television and The Internet. Both of which (I have discussed earlier) are having significant effect on the mental state of the youth. The point? We seem to have plateaued as far as achievements go. We have resigned ourselves to the fate that will befall us from choosing to shorten the written word, dumbing down the way human beings are seen talking to each other, and awarding flash over substance.

These two problems are extremely sad, however they pale in comparison to my final complaint. A few years ago Adam Carolla decided to leave the show Loveline with the addiction medicine, board certified Doctor Drew Pinsky. He was later replaced with Theodore "Ramon" Stryker. You may remember him as the announcer from the video game Burnout 3. If you have ever played, then you know it is nothing short of a masterpiece. The game-play is flawless, the soundtrack is top notch, and it kept me engaged like few racing games ever have. It's one weakness is that Strykers voice permeates every square inch of that thing. If you have never heard this man speak on the radio then let me assure you that Ted Stryker is the Paris Hilton of radio. Whereas radio personalities such as Rick Dees or Ryan Seacrest might say something funny or clever once in a blue moon, I have listened to over 200 airings of Loveline and I have never laughed ONCE at a goddamned word Stryker has uttered. He is a thoroughly unimpressive white guy. He is annoying as celebrities trying to scream their politics at me in acceptance speeches. If you ever see this man in person, spit on him. Tee pee his house. Treat his children and his childrens children badly. Outcast this man into the fucking desert. I'm not morally opposed to a good old fashioned witch burning for Ted Stryker. He represents all that is bad within us. Not the evil side of humanity, but the dull, uninspired creature that we all can be when we stop trying and settle for a world where things don't have to be great.
