Bon anniversaire, Patrick!
Yes, today is the birthday of Patrick Tambay, the racing driver in my userpic. The Frenchman was born on this day in 1949, so what would be a better excuse to spam your flists again? ^^;;
There is also another reason to wish: Joyeuse Fête! even if I'm over seven hours late posting it... Yesterday it was St-Jean, la Fête Nationale du Québec, even if most people still don't and won't consider Québec a nation. It's always nice to see lots of people flying the blue-and-white flag - just like it's nice to see the other blue-and-white, for Finland. It's convenient, having the same colours to sport for both countries ^^
Gens du pays, c'est votre tour / De vous laisser parler d'amour... *croaking in my horrible singing voice ... I should probably leave the good songs alone*
What else? Hm, d'amour... Oh, yes, of course. Yippee-ki-yay! Die Hard is back! The premiere this week, can hardly wait. For some reason I've always loved the Die Hard "series". Something to look forward to, now if only I could talk someone into coming with me, since it's kind of boring to go see a film on your own. For some reason most of my friends don't seem to see anything great about that kind of films. Blah. Die Hard rocks. Classic!
Plus, Montoya's success in road racing makes me smile. "the first driver to win on the Northern California road circuit starting further back than 13th" et cetera... ^^ Damn I miss Juan Pablo "Just give me half a chance and I'll get you" Montoya on the F1 tracks (and off them), but it seems he's getting nicely along in NASCAR as well. Seems like after Nelsão, Montoya's been the one to amuse the folks. Now F1 is turning to a more boring sort without such amusing personalities. *sigh*
Now if only Ti-Jacques would keep his fingers off any NASCAR steering wheels... It still looks terrifying, no matter what, and I want the little one to be safe. *sigh* (I seem to be sighing a lot nowadays...)
Speaking of Jacques, I was kind of saddened to see, after all the successful hours of Le Mans and his pretty good stints, that they couldn't finish the race. Equally I was disappointed for McNish's car for having to end the race far too early. Seeing (or rather listening, to Radio Le Mans, and looking at Peugeot's pitlane webcam) as he was driving like he was on fire, it was rather depressing to see all that effort go to waste. Jacques's car was holding on to second place when they rolled it inside the garage. When it finally returned to the track, I got my hopes up again, but damn, of course it had to come back to pits not long after. *sigh* After the experience, though, I fear I'm going to be hooked on 24 Heures du Mans for many years to come. Especially if Ti-Jacques keeps his intention of driving there till he wins it. ^^
Next year I don't think I'll even try to sleep in the middle of the race. Even if I can't watch it on TV, I'll still be able to amuse myself by listening to Radio Le Mans. I like the commentators over there and I really wish we had such guys for the F1 commentary too. And am I the only one who thinks that David Richards sounds somewhat tired these days? Conspiracy theory: David Richards and Jacques Villeneuve's car in the same area ... Can there be any possibility that Richards didn't have anything to do with the DNF? I bet he had a very satisfied smile on his face at the end of the race. *sigh*
But what was that about Jacques not being able to drive in traffic? Hrmpf. I wonder if they practised the driver changes much, since he was seemingly having some trouble getting out of the car after his first stint. (And yes, I was watching the "race" from the Peugeot webcam. Am I pathetic or something? He seemed happy after the third stint anyway, and I love to hear his voice when he's like that. Even more saddened about the car failure then. With only about an hour and a half to go. Grh.)
Otherwise, everything's going pretty well. I hope you all are as well as possible as well! *hugs and smiles*
