Blogging in the (Semi) Dark

Okay, this is bullshit. Half of the electricity at my house is out (because the house is partitioned and I can't watch The Strain, Atlanta, pre-air Westworld episodes or do anything because the room with the modem is out while the room where I'm in with my Macbook and my TV is in, and this is effed up.

Also, I'm writing using my phone, which is weird. If I hadn't been so desperate, I wouldn't be Livejournaling with my phone.

The good news is that Max Adler (Karofsky in Glee) is moving up in the acting sphere now. He's starring Clint Eastwood's Sully and Woody Allen's Cafe Society, both of which are movies that are playing here. I watched Sully for the first time last Friday, missed a little bit of the beginning and went back to watch it for the second time on IMAX today. And it was better. So I tweeted Max about the experience, also telling him how much I liked the movie. He replied to my Tweet! So, so happy about that...but also, Sully is a movie worth watching.

Me and Clint Eastwood films don't usually get along. It has come to a point where I just don't watch his movies (that he directed) at all. American Sniper was particularly hard to watch. But Sully has Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart and a story about New York and airplanes that doesn't end in tears. So I decided I should give it a go. And I don't regret that decision because it's a great movie, elegantly constructed and subtly acted, with a gripping plane landig sequence that puts you right on the edge. Max, of course, doesn't have a big role but he has a few lines and is just a joy to see on screen because he really does perform well usually. Hanks and Eckhart, though, are amazing. They have great chemistry and they just light up the screen.

If anyone does want to see it, I highly recommend seeing it on IMAX. That plane landing sequence looks beautiful on a huge, huge screen.

When I watch Cafe Society, I'll be sure to gush again. (And yeah, Max is also in the Rizzoli & Isles series final - he's EVERYWHERE - so I will gush and sob at the same time when I watch it. I haven't, but it's on my list. If only the power can come back on!!!)

What else... oh yeah. Westworld. Excuse me while I figure this one out.
