Beignets with vanilla sauce & bacon ice cream
Before the Pete's Dragon* screening earlier, I went to Bakerzin's for a meal (it was a weird meal, I couldn't call it lunch because it was too late in the afternoon, and I couldn't call it dinner because it was too early to be called 'evening') and perusing Bakerzin's perpetually changing menu, I found this item which was odd and striking in its oddness. It's apparently beignets on vanilla sauce with bacon ice cream.
Bacon ice cream? I think I read it once in a fanfic but I didn't take it seriously. Well, consider me educated now. So because it was so unusual, I ordered it. I didn't even say anything like "This better be good or else..." I just wanted to try it.
...and it was good!
Well, individually, they're not really anything to write home about, I guess. But together this combination somehow works. Beignets are good in principle, but I was worried about the vanilla sauce being too much on top of the ice cream. I have a bit of a sweet tooth but not THAT much. As it turned out, the vanilla tasted like vanilla instead of sugar and the ice cream was not at all sweet because of the bacon thingie. I decided that I might even want to go back to Bakerzin to eat it again sometimes. Provided they haven't changed the menu...
I'm doing a lot of Stories on Instagram today, by the way, and it's all about the drinks I've been having since 6 AM this morning. It lasts 24 hours so if you want to see something other than food, check out my Story, I guess.
* Yeah, Pete's Dragon in September. Disney has a problem with release its movies. Everything is late this year: The BFG was late, Alice Through The Looking Glass was late, and Pete's Dragon was probably not even going to be released here but it is but it's late. GDI.
