Technology, y u so fail?

Today seems to be like the day of it for me. It being "the failure of technology".

First, my Internet connection has been wonky all day long. It's only by my quick thinking and strong prayer that I managed to finish downloading Arrow. I reported it to the internet provider but they weren't able to help much other than refreshing the connection remotely. Just because I will be busy this weekend and don't have much time to work or browse it doesn't mean that ANY OF IT is okay. I'm on holiday - I shouldn't be worrying about anything, let alone internet problems.

Then, one of my Twitter accounts ( @GeekInc18) have missing Tweets. It might have something to do with this but it's never been this bad before. How annoying!!

Although, probably not as annoying as Tumblr crashing and being down for a lot of its devoted users. Funnily enough, as I was trying to figure out what the problem is with my Twitter account, I went to Twitter's status page, which is ironically hosted in Tumblr so I couldn't access it because the whole of Tumblr is down. TSK.

(Anyone from LJ who's on Tumblr probably has been toughened up by LJ's major downtimes in the past. So, yeah, we're 'used to' it. But, come on, nobody should have to put up with any of that crap!)

And finally, though it's not really technology's fault at all, today I forgot to bring my cell phone. I went out with my mom earlier and we were separated at one point. I had to stay put in one place so that she could find me and not have to search everywhere for me. But it took her a while to find me and I was getting impatient so I was really annoyed at having left my phone home. Then I got annoyed for getting annoyed. It really sucks that I'm very dependent on technology, that I have to get annoyed with a human being because I didn't have a piece of technology for me. It makes me feel inhuman sometimes, the way I depend on things like this.

The fact that I'm writing a rant entry about technology right now is also annoying for me. I need technology but I don't love it. I really don't know how else I can put it. I'm not even that much of a gadget junkie (I do not go chasing for Apple products, I couldn't care less about the new Microsoft 8 launching, I have no desire to anything Android or what have you, I never ever ever ever ever EVER fiddle with my smart phone when I'm sitting with someone else), and yet I still need technology THAT MUCH. It's scary. A scary thought.

If I say "send me back to the days where people communicate through handwritten letters!" would a time machine suddenly appear and do exactly just that? I'm just wondering.

technology, rant
