THE CHARACTER
Character's name: Combat Instructor Alleyne
Journal: tomatoandbasil
Series: Queen's Blade (Site in Japanese)
Queen's Blade (Not very good official site in English)
Canon Point: Post Beautiful Warriors OVA 2
Loss: Her relationship with/feelings for Forest Watchman Nowa

Nowa was the student she had almost exclusively before arriving in Paradisa. She was a very young, free spirited, kind half-elf with great fighting and caring potential residing in her. All elves acted quite racist to her, due to the fact the elves and humans hated each other due to a war over slavery in the past. Except for Alleyne. Alleyne taught her and cared for her and in turn, Nowa opened up her heart and began defrosting her. The old elf felt things she hadn't in ages, such as trust, friendship, and possibly even deep love.

Without these, she is forced back to her cold state and unable to fully accept such feelings, at least for now. In Paradisa, her memories of Nowa are just her believing she was another student of hers with no overly special qualities.

Species/Race: Alleyne is a forest elf, and while she maintains some stereotypical elven qualities seen in most fantasy media, she's also somewhat of an anomaly. For those that don't know what an elf is, think humans with sharp ears who live in forests and are all secretive and magical.

Like most elves people are familiar with, she's good at that nature thing, living in trees, befriending animals, living off the land, she lives for what seems like forever, has pointy ears, is beautiful/short/thin, seems infinitely wise, and wears a lot of leaves.

However, unlike a lot of elves, she has no magical aptitude, does not use ranged weapons outside of bolas, is not particularly racist or egocentric, does not care about using metal in her clothing or weapons, is somewhat bullheaded, and is not ever seen crying about nature being destroyed.

Morality: Alleyne is somewhere between lawful neutral (when on her own) and lawful good (if involved with anyone for any reason). She's very strict and is against unfairness and vile things, but also has a hard time disobeying superiors, even if she disagrees with them entirely. She tends to let others go before doing what her heart says. However, if she is involved with others, she will have an easier time following her own heart and doing what she thinks is ultimately right. She's also into passing down what she believes is the truth about life and consequence and sacrifice, even if it's blunt or harsh sometimes. Alleyne could be compared somewhat with a strict cop.

In the end, she's a soldier at heart, and goes to fight where commanded, even if ordered to possibly die.

Being in Paradisa may have loosened her a bit thus far, but she still has a hard time doing nice things for herself.

Involvement: Basically, go after one of her friends, especially innocent or young, and you're in for it. Also, anything that would serve to better children, as she taught some before in her home due to the law of the land allowing women as young as twelve to enter battle tournaments to become queen. Otherwise, she'll probably stay out of it, unless it's an unavoidable occurrence.

"I" in TEAM: If working with a team, expect her to either be in charge and/or keep everyone else in line and doing their jobs. She's used to working with numerous students and under the supervision of bosses, though, as she is technically a soldier. She also works well on her own.

Abilities/Powers:
Quickness: One of Alleyne's stereotypical elf bits is she's very dexterous and evasive. In canon, she's seen jumping to the top of large trees and the canopies of forests in three leaps at most. When she runs or gets moving, she's a blur. Her spear swings follow suit and can be very hard to track if she wants them to be.

Weapons Mastery: Alleyne is proficient in a double-ended spear and bolas, but being a fighting teacher, she's seen teaching the quarterstaff, dagger, and sword to others at the very least, so she most likely knows a lot about handling any non-gunpowder based weapon. She can also use martial arts to an extent for unarmed combat, but prefers weapons based fighting.

Wilderness Survival: She was born in, grew up in, and lived in a deep, tangled forest most, if not all, of her life. This gives her a sense of what plants and animals are good and bad and what to do with them and how to purify things and whatnot. She can also make some wound healing salves out of plants.

Magical Capabilities: Despite the fact that she herself cannot (or has just not been seen using) magic of any kind, she was able to sense that Nyx's demonic staff, Funikura, was full of evil magic right away in Beautiful Warriors OVA 2, so either she can detect it and just not use it, or its magic was so strong that a ham sandwich could tell you it was bad news. Given this, she can at least detect a bit of magic.

Energy Blast: In one scene in Season 2, after getting caught in a huge, nasty pitcher plant thanks to Echidna's trickery during their official bout in the Queen's Blade tournament, she screamed and exploded the plant with a green energy blast, though it may be connected to how she uses her spear, as she had it in hand and used it in conjunction with the blast to get out.

NON-SUPERPOWER CAPABILITIES
1. Hand to Hand Fighting: Alleyne knows some unknown style of martial arts and can lift her legs to kick all the way to her head.
Powered: 4/5
Unpowered: 4/5

2. Short Range Weapons: Alleyne has her trusted double-ended spear that she wields like a boss. If there's something fancy or tricky you can do with one, she can do it, and probably invented some of her own. She's also seen teaching people other things, as stated, so she could probably use them in a pinch, but she by far prefers that spear of hers.
Powered: 5/5
Unpowered: 5/5

3. Long Range Weapons: The only ones Alleyne is seen using are simple stone/rope bolas, though I don't doubt she could use others, given her age, experience, and occupation. However, for the sake of things here, bolas will be what she uses the most. However, she much prefers more direct measures and only carries one or two bolas at her at most at a time, and most others in her canon don't even use ranged weapons or supplements, so she's probably lower than many here in experience with them.
Powered: 2/5
Unpowered: 1/5

4. Pain Tolerance: She is a soldier who has seen wars, and an old soldier at that. Given her entire life is about fighting, in some way or another, be it through teaching or applying her skills with deadly force, she's able to take a lot, and even able to delay magical possession for a bit. For example, where the demonic staff Funikura can completely erase Nyx's will instantly, it was struggling to completely erase Alleyne's and had to take its sweet time. It didn't even get to finish or succeed.
Powered: 8/10
Unpowered: 8/10

5. Stamina: See Pain Tolerance. When your an entirely physical skill based soldier for over a millennium, you're able to go until death claims you, and even then that will have a hard time catching you.
Powered: 9/10
Unpowered: 9/10

6: Medical Capabilities: Alleyne can make some basic healing salves out of plants that can take the pain out of and close up anything from a scrape to a deep, bloody cut, but will not stop a fatal wound. That's about it. It's somewhat known colloquially in game as 'fairy jizz.' This is about as far as her skills here go, though.
Powered: 2/5
Unpowered: 2/5

Weaknesses: Use dirty tactics or force her to retreat, particularly using threats. Alleyne forfeited her match in the Queen's Blade tournament when Echidna told Irma to slash Nowa's neck if Alleyne continued fighting. At that point, Alleyne had been winning against both Echidna and Irma all on her own with not terribly much trouble, and was seconds away from claiming victory, but that threat had her throw in the towel immediately, saving Nowa's life. Basically, use her heart or soldier sense against her and you may just win.

She's also still just an elf, a non-magical one, and will eventually reach a limit and go down from exhaustion.

(Semi-optional): A MUST FOR POWERED CHARACTERS - Please state conditions necessary to:
CAUSE DEATH: Anything that would take down a mortal warrior of some kind.
INCAPACITATE: Anything that would take down a mortal warrior of some kind.
Death: For now, I am saying no death, but any other wounds are okay. If this changes, I will have this changed along with to reflect it.
OTHER: Just her spear, bolas, and a pouch on her belt that I usually have full of her salves.
Headcanon: A fair amount, given as she's not a very major character in an already obscure and semi-short series, with most related media remained untranslated or unconfirmed, though most are just gap fillers and not major or gamebreaking facts.

Alleyne has taken up reading a lot, given her interest in passing down knowledge. Anything regarding other elves or elf culture is also largely derived from just vague implications in canon. Things that don't exist as canon fact, such as her birthday, are now things she has either forgotten due to old age or she just never cared for it. Her tendency to be child-friendly (outside of the way she dresses) is derived from her relationship with Nowa, possibly her relationship with Echidna (she's half Alleyne's age and it's unknown when they met), and the fact women as young as twelve can fight in the Queen's Blade and possibly die.

At some point, I'd like for her to learn how to handle guns, if only to understand them better and help her teach fighting. In Queen's Blade's sequel, Rebellion, which isn't long after the first series, a genius young elf woman has figured out how to build androids that use guns, so this wouldn't be too far off base for her anyways.
