Tonight, Wild Mercy (
min0taur, Sally, Jen and I) descended upon
ladyat and
bedlamhouse at their lovely new old house in Danville, and discovered that a bit of fabulous timing meant we were there on the same evening as
billroper and
daisy_knotwise, who were passing through on their way home from WorldCon. We were joined by
bedlamhouse's dad and we spent the evening hanging out, first on the deck and then in the front room of the house, making music and just generally having a good time. There were elk brats on the grill, and barbecue from GT South's, and Sally and Jen brought all kinds of side dishes and desserts, and there was beer and hard cider and it was the best kind of lazy late-summer Indiana evening.
We discovered that the front room and Sally's djembe really resonated to the same bass note, and I found that I love having an entire backing choir for the choruses of
vixyish's "Girl That Never Was".
It's a beautiful house... I foresee many wonderful music parties and house concerts once Bill and Brenda are settled into Indiana life next year. In the meantime, we'll enjoy the occasional visits while they're here getting the house ready, and will look forward to having them permanently in the area!
