Summary: After the flood at the Ford of Bruinen, Elrond's sons investigate.
After The Flood
Traces of the flood were clear to see. Tangled debris was trapped high in the trees lining the river, and the riverbed had been scoured clean by the force of water. Just below the ford they found the bodies of three of the black horses, drowned and battered by the flood.
"Poor beasts," Elrohir murmured. "To be forced to serve such masters! They are free of that misery now. Alas, I wish the Nazgul were so easily dealt with!"
Elladan shook his head. "They will return," he prophesied. "With new steeds, more terrible than these poor creatures. They will return."
