The Rose Of Versailles ~Oscar~ - 1991 Moon Troop Review

Sep 07, 2007 22:06

Okay, I will never forget to post reviews but since this is my most watched and my favorite "Rose Of Versailles", I will now write the Review:

Story: Basically following the story line of Riyoka Ikeda's Classic Manga about a woman who is raised by her father to become a soldier and a bodyguard to Marie Antoinette. Also, her romantic feelings towards her childhood friend Andre Grandier.

Starring: Suzukaze Mayo, Amami Yuki, Kuze Seika

Notes: Suzukaze Mayo is mostly famous for her role as Kenshin Himura in Rurouni Kenshin. Amami Yuki is mostly famous for her Rhett Butler in Takarazuka's Gone With The Wind, Bill in Me & My Girl and her Japanese Film Quartet For Two(Rendan).

Final Performance: none

Good: Suzukaze Mayo's passionate performance as Oscar is well done, therefore making in my list of Favorite Oscars(Ichiro Maki made the top for me), Amami Yuki's Andre was so beautifully done and I actually liked her in this role, such emotion. Non-chan(Kuze Seika) as Alain was actually quite my favorite in this role, I have never had an Alain I really liked but this one sure was good. The blood that came out of Suzukaze's mouth was really frightening(wonder if Takarazuka has their own dry cleaners). The woman in the streets of Paris has a really nice voice. Rosallie was really great as well.

Bad: That Music Video with a stunt actress on a horse and Suzukaze's head singing to us(whats up with that?!) It reminded me of those Japanese Samurai Dramas where in the intro, the Samurai always rides a horse and an Enka singer sings in the background the theme song to the show( I am referring to Abarembo Shogun  a famous Japanese Drama). Also the slow motion deaths made me thought about The Matrix for a second, ^_^!

Grade:  5/5 since its my favorite, also its all about Suzukaze Mayo, ^_^!

May I start that this is my most favorite Berubara I actually liked, ^_^. Well for the most part it has to do with the passionate acting that Suzukaze Mayo does with Oscar. She adds a layer to the character that I never seen before like her  Wa ga na wa Oscar in the beginning of the show proves that she is a soldier always doing what is right for her country and her heart and also her Ai Areba Koso with Andre shows the Feminine nature to the character that I liked. Amami Yuki shows a great Andre Grandier by proving his love for Oscar and the expression Amami does while in the Swordfight with Oscar scene is hilarious, I loved it. Non-chan's Alain is a real charmer, since I have never met an Alain I liked(well if you count Tomu's from 1989, ^_^). The Senka cast did great with their own material as well as the Musumeyaku playing Rosallie(she is too cute and adorable). I liked this version of the Heaven scene where Oscar and Andre are just climbing the stairway to heaven. The revue portion is such a delight with Rockette's dancing and marching around on stage, the Andre and Oscar dance(well hopefully I will see Oura Mizuki and Maya Miki dance together in their Berubara performance). My favorite "Rose Of Versailles" and possibly my favorite classic one(along with the 1989 Yukigumi Performance).
