And Now It's Mid-August ....

... And I'm surprised at all the things that have happened since the last post.

The mess the exiting Manager of Exhibitions left was enormous. I got to a point where I finally managed to sort through his emails, put things in folders, and make organized stacks of things before I actually had to working on the exhibitions.

I had to contact the next group of people who were going to loan us materials for the Atrium Gallery (our community space), so they knew when they had to drop off the materials. Since we were getting super magnified images in poster-form from our local MagLab, I also had to pick about 18 pieces.   I wanted pieces that would work well with the last of our summer camps.  (I talked with one of the educators yesterday, and she said that she actually used the posters as part of one of her activities.)

I also had to start working on the paperwork for our next regular art exhibition.  I've been working on that ever since.  There's all sorts of paperwork that needs to be done, and the fact that we've got 21 artists in this next exhibition means that the paperwork is magnified by 21.

Our current Native American exhibition will be closing soon, so we've got to start gearing up on that paperwork.  In about 4 weeks, the current exhibition will close.  We'll have to do condition reports, repack the work, take it back to the owners (who live in the center of the state), and also repaint the entire gallery before hanging the new show.  (One of the artists for the new show has already sent in his work, but a majority of the remaining 20 are going to start sending in their work next week.)

The Atrium Gallery is also going to change out next week.  The MagLab images are coming down and a local Senior Artists Showcase exhibition is going up.  Most of that paperwork is already, though we still need to print up the artist labels and touch base with the contact person.

And Monday was my first day in my new position as Assistant to the Director of Art, or as we on the Art Floor jokingly refer to it ..... Art Floor Lackey.  XD

And soon -- hopefully -- I'll be able to write more about my responsibilities and duties in another post.  I don't really have time for it right now, but the main highlights are: I get weekends off, it's full-time(ish), I get a pay raise, and I get to be in charge of the art education program (which is a double-edged sword).

it's a bumpy road ahead
