The first shot is rather children book illustration, isn't it? Very nice, but kind of a weird first impression of a Batman film.
Guess they kept Ra's character design the same as his BTAS ver. Except those lips. Did he get botox?
Oh, wow, beautiful animation. /Brutal/. But really nice.
5 min in and I already miss Mark Hamill.
Woo! These opening credits are awesome though.
Jensen, I love you, but so far your inflection is kinda jarring.
Amazo? There's a cameo I didn't expect.
NIGHTWING! HI NIGHTWING! Wow, your voice is low though. What happened to representing levity in the Batfam? Haha, at least you tell jokes. BRUCE, HUG YOUR REMAINING CHILD.
Dang, flips 'n shit.
"Pretty boy in the leotard"?? Still got dat ass, Dick. Even the badguys want you.
Aw, yisss, that's why they're the original dynamic duo. Though, "boss"? I guess that's a sign Dick is well adjusted in this 'verse.
Haha, the fangirls just got some fanservice.
lol yes, Dick, he does have lasers.
Onscreen deaths and nookie? This is clearly a grownup's Bat.
Interesting. Joker's origin story?
The case!
Haha, Dick, as modest as always. You're still a good looking bastard, even if I miss you with longer metrosexual hair. The crewcut is not really you.
Haha, OMG, that's brilliant. Poor exasperated Dick. XD
lol did Joker just take a shot at the hot pants? XD
Dick clearly gets all the one liners in this film. "The toys!"
This parkour scene is classy. And really, really good. Not just a good action sequence, but shows off Batman and Nightwing's good teamwork, but also both their natural strength. I like how subtly Dick pulls ahead, where Batman's emphasis is on tactical things. Even the way the three land is different.
"Thank you." Haha, I like how Dick is all weirded out. NPH, your delivery could use some work, too, though. Still love you lots.
Oh, baby Jay is adorbs! Totally what old skool Robin was. Aaaaand nice transition into the hardcase. Awesome.
"Cute." Ooh, shivers!
Haha, did Bats just go through a car? These cyborg ninjas kick ass though. Jason, you too are showing the chops of why you were such an awesome Robin.
So many feeliiiiings.
Oh, Alfie. :'(
"Careless and stupid!" D:
Hey, Talia!
See, the thing about Bruce Greenwood's voice that kinda bothers me is that he's got this Southern twang that just sounds wrong on Bruce Wayne, and even more so on Batman. Sometimes it just seeps in.
"I've become a better Batman than you!" Haha, Jason to a T. I'm glad they're hitting what's really interesting about his backstory--where and why he went wrong. I mean, his entire spiel to Bruce is pretty heartwrenching, and the ending? Guh, so many feelings.
See, this is why I find Damian superfluous. If you're interested in a rehabilitation story, Jason is prime fodder for that. Because more than Damian, Jason has got such interesting issues. By comparison, Damian is really simple. Whereas Jason was raised by Bruce, had the values pounded literally into him, and still slipped off that slope. He would be much more ambivalent than Damian, and not to mention, he's already passed the childhood stage, so he's a much more complex and developed person. Not to mention, sibling issues with Dick! So much material that's just wasted on Damian, who's arguably just molded into the development that was predictable and shallow. I mean, I get you need a character to bond with the younger generation, but what an obvious marketing ploy.
Anyway.
Great flick. There should be more edgier animation like it. I miss the BTAS cast, though.
