More (01/12/14): My, my, I’m posting at a reasonable time for once ^.^ Many thanks to September Scanlations for releasing the chapter on a weekend when I’m not busy~ Though I admit, this is the first Mujihi chapter that I was not looking forward to. Partially because I was going to toss everything aside to do this rant and be even more behind on anime/manga releases (fortunately, things have died down after Christmas and New Year), but mostly because I didn’t want to find out about Satonaka. But anyways, what’s done is done, so here we go!
So, the magazine cover. Care to guess what my very first complaint is? If you guessed Nanao’s blush and lips, you’re correct! ;) Or perhaps I’ve just gotten very predictable… Anyways, is Nanao wearing… pink? *squints* Well, I guess it’s kinda lavender. For Kuon’s outfit, that actually looks like something Nanao would wear. Perhaps Nanao is dressing his beloved? :3 Aside from both of them smiling pretty happily, I think the best part of this is Kuon’s apron. Come on, why have we not seen this yellow, chicken-themed apron in the series before? Such an improvement from plain black XD
OH WHY HELLO THERE :D *drools * The darn text is blocking our view of Kuon’s lovely muscles *pouts* But at least we get to see him hovering protectively over Nanao. Next time, Kuon, off with your shirt.
Recap and nice use of black at the edges. I find it kinda funny how the black and white cover had Kuon with his chest exposed, and now suddenly he’s fully clothed. I think it’s going backwards XD (though this page seems to be broken on Batoto)
Nanao looking sad, and thinking that Kae is still an issue is a pretty good guess on Kuon’s part. In the lower left panels, I do like how the look in his eyes changes.
Well, I guess actions speak louder than words, and it’s easier to just strip Nanao rather than press further with questions? Then again, this might be more effective since Nanao probably would not answer. Though Nanao’s face looks a bit strange? I can’t quite put my finger on it but it might be the eyes… (on a side note, I keep accidentally turning off the Beats audio on my laptop, and I keep forgetting that Fn + b is what turns it back on).
Dun dun du- oh no nononono Nanao baby please don’t cryyyyy D: *wanting to cry myself* Unh, Nanao in tears never fails to break my heart T.T *hugs him tightly*
A bit blurry in the upper right but oh well. More importantly… oh no, now it looks like Nanao is the one going backwards. I’ve really been hoping that Nanao’s emotional state had improved since the last volume, but I guess not. Then again, considering what Satonaka put him through, I suppose I can’t blame him entirely. Let me guess, Nanao’s gonna say that he doesn’t like Aikawa anymore.
But clearly Nanao won’t be able to do this because he’s been in love with Aikawa for so long. Reminds me of my favorite quote from Junai no Seinen by Fujisaki Kou: “Once he experienced the warmth of being loved, he could no longer stand the coldness of being alone.” (One of the reasons I want to change my tumblr layout is that there is no search bar). But really, even with Nanao sprouting such nonsense about wanting to sleep with other guys, it’s horribly obvious that he doesn’t mean it.
Oh, Nanao *sighs* Surely Kuon can tell that Nanao is lying through his teeth, and it’s just a matter of time until he calls Nanao out on that…
But it appears that Kuon just left? Perhaps he thinks that Nanao needs some time to cool his head. I’m sure that he would’ve wanted to stay (especially with Nanao not wanting to be alone at night or something), but there are times when it’s just more appropriate to leave the other person alone.
Ooh, Mikado! Another perceptive person who will definitely be able to tell that something’s wrong with Nanao.
Aww, Mikado is worried about his older brother. Such wonderful brotherly love~ Though “niisan”? It’s weird because I’m still very used to Mikado addressing Nanao as “aniki.” I wonder what brought about this fairly recent change. Well, for starters, Nanao is not wearing glasses. That’s a pretty dead giveaway already.
Yikes, looking like the old Nanao. I do wonder which one Mikado is referring to, the Nanao from MnO or the Nanao from even before that. In any case, perhaps it’s a good thing that Nanao didn’t run into Kimiko-sama. Who knows what sort of wrath she would’ve brought down from the heavens? But yikes again, Satonaka… :/ I can’t believe that Nanao willingly came to his class. No, wait, I actually can indeed believe it *sighs again* But wow, even Nanao’s classmates notice that he’s acting weird.
Though the nerve of Satonaka to speak to Nanao so casually after whatever it was that he did :/ However, it did break my heart a bit that Nanao couldn’t even bring himself to react. But that line Satonaka gave about “All you had to do was paint me as a villain. So why didn’t you?” That sounds like… Satonaka WANTED Nanao to do as such while talking with Kuon. In which case, it seems like my theory about the “rape” being yet another scheme by Satonaka isn’t so far from the mark…
Yeah, it reaaaaally sounds like the events from the previous chapter was just so that Nanao could…blame Satonaka… actually, hang on. Asking Nanao to be angry with/insult/abuse him… that sounds more like Satonaka faked raping Nanao mainly to get Nanao’s attention under the guise of helping with Kuon and Nanao’s relationship. * buries face in hands and sighs hard* Oh, but could that perhaps be Kuon?
*bursts out laughing* Oh god, I’m glad to see him, but I’m pretty sure that’s the fourth jacket of his that has a fluffy/furry collar/trim XD Must go edit my tumblr post about that. But thank goodness for Kuon’s perseverance. Don’t let Nanao get away!
Yay for Kuon calling Nanao out on his blatant lies. But hmm, it would appear that Nanao’s low self-esteem has just gotten even worse. I thought that this had been resolved already? Regardless, it’s time for Kuon to work his magic…
Ooh, Kuon, watch the head! *winces* But that wonderful declaration certainly does make up for it~
Oh god, Satonaka sure does have horrid timing. Though he’s probably dumping an entire can of gasoline into the fire on purpose. Eh, though why would Satonaka have a spare pair of glasses for Nanao?
…sh!t… *buries face in hands again and sighs harder* I think that is going to be Nanao’s cue to run off. Though those are Nanao’s glasses? The frames in the previous page look slightly thicker and more devoid of color than what I imagined. But at least this confirms my long-time theory that Nanao doesn’t actually need glasses \O/ Yay for that.
Ah, there Nanao goes. And now would be Kuon’s cue to kill Satonaka, or at least do something just short of murder.
But hah! I was right! (With one of my proposed alternative scenarios, anyway) Satonaka did not actually go completely through with raping Nanao \O/ That absolutely does not excuse the fact that he hurt Nanao so badly, but I’ll take whatever victory I can get for now *slumps down in relief* Thank you to Sakuraga-sensei for at least that.
Even so, copping a feel aside (because sadly I don’t expect anything else from Satonaka), leading Nanao in his fragile/vulnerable state to believe that they had sex was still… *shakes head* I’ll have to finish that thought with the next chapter. Though I’m surprised that Kuon hasn’t physically harmed Satonaka either. Speaks a lot to Kuon’s character growth, ne? At least there’s one character in this series that got some… But oh, I’m also surprised at what Kuon says there at the end of this page. It sounds like he had accepted that Satonaka would still be an important part of Nanao’s life. Well, I guess that opinion has changed.
…and of course Satonaka was doing this because he loves and wants Nanao… *buries head in hands once more and sighs hardest* Seriously, what a twisted, twisted way of showing that you love someone -_- But you know what’s really bothering me? I want Kuon to just tighten that tie and strangle Satonaka. It’s not because I want Satonaka to be punished (later, not right now), but it’s only because the mystery/psychological lover in me is calling for it ^^; Ties and scarves (like in that one Tantei Gakuen Q case) around someone’s neck is like a free weapon/invitation to choke the life out of them… *coughs* I never wear scarves, by the way.
Oh, that’s another surprising statement too, that Satonaka actually hates Kuon. Surely Satonaka couldn’t have been happy with someone else stealing Nanao away, but I don’t know why I never thought about it like that *scratches head* Heh, Satonaka deserves a lot more than a lecture, but I guess that’s enough from Kuon right now. Shame Kuon didn’t take that opportunity strangle Satonaka (but then the story would be quite a different one ^^;). But oh, Kuon is 20 years old? I did not know that *nods* Does that make Nanao about 22 years old?
Oh my! Kuon is just full of surprising statements today, isn’t he? *is impressed* I sure never thought about it like that either, but now that he mentioned it… both Satonaka and Nanao have a sadistic side to them, and more importantly, they hide behind a mask and never ever reveal their true feelings.
…well, can I just say that I’ve fallen in love with Kuon even more and would very much like to marry him if he wasn’t already taken? Oh god, that was hot *dies in the face of Kuon’s determination*
Argh, and now we have to wait another few months. Shame because my interest in the Mujihi series has been restored *nostrils flare and steam blows out of my ears* But hey, looks like there’s gonna be another chapter after all! Good thing this volume isn’t going to be as short as I feared. For the next chapter… we’ve dodged the bullet regarding Satonaka’s apparent rape, but he still needs to be punished for what he’s done. I think that it’s time for Nanao to finally confront Satonaka *nods* And of course time for Kuon and Nanao to have make-up sex (probably not until the tankoubon comes out, but I’m guessing Kuon will top and Nanao will blush and cry a lot), but mostly for Nanao and Satonaka to have a very serious chat. So yeah, hope 2014 has been going well and will continue to go well for everyone! Until then!
More (03/30/14): Oh, was not expecting a new chapter already. Time sure passed by quickly :D Thank goodness it didn’t come out this upcoming week since I’m gonna be away for a trade show :) I honestly wasn’t super excited for this chapter, but at least I wasn’t dreading it like the previous one, so I suppose that’s good. Thank you as always to September Scanlations for the chapter. Let’s get started!
From just the bright colors I thought the magazine cover was for a summer themed. That is, until I realized that Nanao was wearing a cardigan, which would not make sense. Totally forgot that it’s actually spring XD But yes!!! Nanao doesn’t have bright red lips and he’s not blushing! \O/ It’s been a while ^.^ The flower in his hair seems a bit out of place, but whatever. Maybe it has some special meaning in the language of flowers. Kuon does look a bit pained though? Perhaps Nanao is accidentally choking him. Or maybe the orange juice tastes especially sour after that strawberry milkshake (does the strawberry milkshake belong to Kuon? I can’t remember if he likes sweets or not…). Cute heart-shaped straw though.
Awww, how sweet~ White suits with flowers pinned to the chest… are they getting married?! :D :D :D That’s wonderful! According to Henshin Dekinai and Iya yo Yamete yo, Holland is the place to be ^.^ As such, I can forgive the extremely plain background and nearly complete absence of black. But oh my, a wedding~ Somehow I feel like Kimiko-sama would totally be in charge of the whole thing XD And I would very much like to see both of them smiling soon. If not by the end of this chapter, hopefully in the next one?
University library? That’s a strange place to be. I thought that Kuon was last seen lecturing Satonaka-sensei, so shouldn’t he be looking for Nanao rather than going off to study? Oh, but the girl by the bookshelf is drawn in more detail than most of the other background characters - you can clearly see her clothes and she actually has a face with eyes O.o I was rather excited to see Kuon wearing yet another fur-collared jacket… until I remembered that he was already wearing it in the previous chapter. Never mind then~
LOL for some reason my first thought was that Kuon was checking out that girl, which is absolutely ridiculous of course. And what’s also ridiculous is that the girl appears to be wearing jeans underneath her dress? *squints* Maybe that’s actually her two legs and she has really weird socks, but that looks a bit like a gigantic cuff for jeans *shrugs* Ohhhhh, rather than studying, perhaps Kuon was unconsciously drawn here because it was where he first saw Nanao. Though I’m not sure why Kuon would look in the library since we have never seen Nanao in the library aside from that flashback in the last volume. Maybe it’s just for romantic/plot purposes?
More flowers. Actually, there have been a lot of flowers, haven’t there? Flowers and fruit too. Not sure if they’re there for decoration or if there’s a special meaning that I’m much too lazy to look up. Oh well. Flashbacks to both MnO and MnA… Ha, I’m not sure about Satonaka understanding, but he definitely abandoned reason :( *sighs in disappointment over his character derailment*
Oh hey look, more flowers. And oh hey look, still too lazy to look them up XD Though is it just me or does Kuon’s imaginary grip on Nanao’s wrist look extremely painful? It seems like Kuon could easily snap the bones if he tries *winces* Then a view of the school, perhaps a change in POV now?
Oops, just a change in scenery. Ooh, though Kuon’s not being very subtle, is he, calling Nanao by his given name like that XD But how promising! It would be so great if Kuon could introduce Nanao as his beloved to those two :D And I guess the next step would be coming out to Towa and Hisa-nii since Kimiko-sama already knows and I’m pretty sure Mikado knows too *nods* And is that a slight smile I see on Kuon’s lips? :) Though oh my, so the glasses guy is actually the shorter of the two… *getting thoughts, very dirty thoughts*
Ha ha ha! Very nice going, glasses guy XD Kuon’s got himself some good friends~ Ahhh, but it seems like Nanao is still too rattled to realize the sheer depth of Kuon’s feelings now. Very sweet, but it would be even better if Kuon could say those words to Nanao’s face. Godspeed, Kuon! And that’s a lovely image of the two of them smiling together >.<
Oh my, and things really are coming full circle. First Kuon goes to where he first saw Nanao, and now Nanao goes to where he was gonna confess in MnO. Does this mean this volume might be the last? I can’t remember if there was gonna be another volume or not. So Nanao is sitting in Kuon’s seat… and was there always an entry way and trashcan over there? *checking MnO* Oh yes, there was indeed a trashcan and a window or glass door *nods*
Such a lovely but sad look on Nanao’s face. I do remember him thinking in MnO that he might throw up since he was so nervous. Nice tie-in there. It is a bit sad that Nanao is running away from Kuon at the moment, but it will surely be fine because the Kuon of the present will always chase after him :)
Mmm, Kuon would definitely get angry because he’s extremely kind-hearted. I think now would be a good time for Kuon to show up. And nice use of black in between the panels.
*laughs wryly* Kuon does indeed seem to have that effect on people (i.e. Nanao and the readers), making them fall in love with him even more. But again, it will surely be fine because this was only a one-sided breakup (even Kuon said so himself a few pages ago), and so Nanao will see the error of his ways soon. Freeze over… preserving… cryogenics… random, 7 Seeds is a freakin awesome series once you get into it :)
*hugs Nanao* Nice use of the school building to fill in the panels rather than just leaving a blank white area. Though that black and white bit in the lower left, could it be an indication of a sound? Like, say, Kuon’s footsteps?

Excellent memory, Kuon. And Sakuraga Mei certainly seems to be determined in inserting a lot of references to MnO and MnK.

Oh, yes yes yes, here it comes - Kuon’s knack for being perceptive and saying the most romantic and right things *squirms in anticipation* Though the very top panel was interesting, I don’t really remember there being a lot (if any) filler panels of dark sky/foliage *nods*
Awwwww *clutches heart* I don’t think this confession had quite the same impact as the first time Kuon said it, but still. I’m sure this is what Nanao needs to hear most right now >.< And I did really love the diagonal-ish angle during this scene. I don’t remember there being a lot of panels with angles like this either *nods*

Mmm, self-confidence. Reminds me of the scene in Sex Pistols (it’s still the only OVA I keep rewatching for YonekunixShirou <3 <3 <3) where Yonekuni tells Shirou (I keep thinking his name is ‘iinchou’…) to have more self-confidence :)

Though… it seems like this was an awfully short chapter? I feel like the other chapters had thirty-something pages whereas this only has twenty-something. And I thought briefly that maybe the sex scene from the tankoubon would be here, but they’re kinda out in the open and about to go home, so I guess not. Ah well.
So yeah, a nice and romantic chapter which I don’t have any major complaints about. That’s all for this chapter, so hope everyone takes care in the meantime. Until then! :)
More (08/03/14): Oh my, time for another MnK chapter already, and the last one to boot. So let’s get to it :) And of course, a big thank you as always to Sakuraga Mei for the chapter and September Scanlations for the quick work.
As always, can’t have a rant without starting off with a complaint over Nanao’s blushing and overly red lips. But since he could just be embarrassed over receiving a lovely bouquet of flowers from his beloved, I suppose it’s forgivable this time. Sunflowers! A perfect reminder of summertime. Kuon looks…a bit strange, and not just because of his lumberjack shirt. That line under his eyes makes him look kinda old, and his face is a bit too serious and not as loving as I would like. But oh well, it’s still a pretty sweet image. And Nanao’s wearing a necklace, which I still think is Kuon’s influence :)
Hmm, I feel like that little black splotch under Nanao’s eye might be him blushing -_- But my main complaint here would be that they don’t show all of Kuon. Granted, Kuon’s hand looks pretty nice, but it would be even nicer if we could see all of him. Or maybe there wasn’t enough space? The sparkles outside the window kinda looks like snow, but it’s probably just stars or something… oh my, if the curtains are completely open, anyone could see them while they’re going at it? ^^; *whips out some binoculars* I thought Kuon’s room had a wall next to the bed, so maybe it’s Nanao’s room?
Ah, right, Kuon invited Nanao over to his house. Hopefully Hisa-nii and Towa are out. And the windows on the second floor (I’m assuming Kuon’s room is on the second floor) have windows that open up and down, so maybe the black and white chapter cover is indeed from Nanao’s room? I honestly can’t remember if Nanao’s room had a window next to the bed though…
Looks like they’re gonna go for it, and if Kuon had a jacket in the last chapter then it’s now off. One step closer to his being naked \O/ Aww, but Nanao, there’s nothing that you have to apologize for :(
Ah? From Nanao’s reaction in this page, it seems like he’s more annoyed rather than distraught over the news. Kinda mismatched with his reaction to thinking that something did indeed happen with Satonaka. So I guess that means the possible final confrontation with Satonaka won’t be very angsty or heavy at all. I do hope it won’t be pushed aside as a practical joke at least.

Oh, so we’re actually getting a sex scene now? Going from Sakuraga-sensei’s previous volumes, usually the story would go straight to the conclusion now, and then provide the sex scene in the tankoubon. But whatever, can’t complain :3 Though Nanao’s expression in the middle of the page kinda looks like he’s dealing with an exasperating problem more than anything XD
Ha ha ha, of course Kuon would be able to say things like “You’re adorable” with a completely serious face. And oh, giving a Nanao a tender hug already? Should Nanao prepare himself to hear even more touching words?
Aww, there there, Kuon *pats him* Now that he mentioned it, I think that I really would’ve liked to see more of how Kuon felt at the moment that Nanao tried to break things off.
It’s rather adorable how Nanao hasn’t really been able to speak coherently this chapter due to Kuon’s…ah… talent in bed ;) But the angle from the lower right panel where we can see both Nanao’s face and nipple is a bit awkward. Though not overly surprising considering how unnaturally flexible Nanao can appear during sex scenes (I have the MnA one at the classroom in mind).
Wahhhhh, Kuon’s face is so flushed! >.< Me like a lot. And yes! Kuon’s shirt is off! \o/ Lovely back as always. Next step, his pants? :D Though did Nanao lose his glasses at the same time?
Nope, glasses still there. And it doesn’t look like Kuon will lose the pants either. But at least we made some progress with the shirt. And I suppose it’s pretty fair that Nanao still has his own shirt own instead of being completely naked. I cannot remember what Kuon’s necklace looked like earlier, but on this page it looks like a ring on a chain? *cough*propose*cough*

Well, not quite a love confession, but profanity must mean that Kuon’s feeling pretty good XD And Nanao is so what exactly? A bit too much emphasis on Nanao blushing, but oh well. That’s quite a money shot.

Whoa, stop right there, Kimiko-sama. The mysterious Shirahane parents have been brought up! O.o We still don’t know what exactly it is that they do, but at least we learn here that they live somewhere else. Overseas? And not getting much support… well, the Shirahane siblings seem pretty well off (and with a housekeeper and all), so I guess Kimiko means emotional support and the like. But ahhhh, calling Nanao “Nana-chan” and then giving Kuon the Talk… she’s such a wonderful older sister T.T Though I’m still sad that Nanao still doesn’t want to tell Hisa-nii and Towa about their relationship. Perhaps someday soon?
Sigh, Satonaka. I think this is one of the few times where I am actually not happy to see him (unlike, for example, MnA where I thought he was the best part of the chapter). To call what he did to Nanao “teasing” is a gross understatement, but I agree that Kuon really would kill him if there was a next time. But there had better not be one O.o Haven’t seen Nanao wear a trenchcoat like that before.
Hmm, well, at least it’s something that Satonaka now accepts his own faults I suppose. But oh hey, some scenes from MnO :D And yes, while Nanao and Satonaka are rather alike, I guess Nanao and Kuon have some things in common too. Though that "Sir?" from Nanao in the bottom left. If Nanao actually said "Sensei?", then I would've preferred it to be left like that. But no matter.
…oh f#ck. This is going to be the page that has me closest to tearing up T.T Satonaka is still very much a sleazebag, but I still like him, and it absolutely kills me to see a character that I like in a truly unrequited love (a bit reminiscent of Yashiro from Saezuru towards Kageyama. Why doesn’t Kageyama KNOW, darn it?! *sobs*). Because that confession is probably the most honest thing Satonaka has ever said throughout this entire series… and Nanao just laughs in his face T.T Nanao doesn’t have any ill intentions at all and truly just believes Satonaka is joking like he usually does, and so that makes it all the more painful T.T Sure, Satonaka’s not being thrown in jail or getting beaten up by Kuon or anything, but this is probably the worst punishment he could ever get for everything he’s done.
Hmm, I’m not sure about the mature thing, but I still kinda feel like crying a bit for Satonaka. Ha ha ha, it’s true that Kuon has his stalker-ish moments (then again, so does Nanao as of a few chapters ago), but he does indeed deserve some praise for trusting Nanao to handle things with Satonaka for one last time. Btw the leaves and branches in the middle right are rather prettily drawn.
Oh man, they really did move in together. There’s actually something weird about that fact… maybe because the majority of the Warui series takes place in high school, and none of those high school characters are living together on their own? But oooh, I really wonder how Hisa-nii and Towa will survive without Kuon being there to be the lone voice of reason. But Nanao in his ankle socks is rather cute.
WHAT. Nanao used to be a tutor? When was this?! O.o And to whom? Because I would be impressed if his tutees (had to look up what was the opposite of “tutor.” What a funny word XD) were able to actually get things done in his very beautiful presence. LOL at Kuon spilling his coffee btw. Still, I think it would be a good idea for Nanao to get a part-time job. He might enjoy being a housewife (hee hee, he made the perfect coffee for Kuon), but I’m sure he still has his pride and would not want to be a “kept” person *nods*
Cooped up, huh? I personally don’t like the implication behind that, but it works for them so it’s fine. Kinda goes back to MnO when Nanao tells Kuon to hurry and lock him away :) But LOL they’re wearing matching v-neck shirts! Kuon’s style really is rubbing off on Nanao XD Though are capris still in fashion? I don’t see many people wearing them. And Nanao might not be wearing that pair much longer if his coffee spills all the way. I do like how Nanao’s face is drawn in that middle panel.
LOL why break in a new bed when you can break in a floor? Very considerate of Kuon to draw the curtains… heeeeey, maybe the black and white chapter cover is of their new place? The windows do kinda match :D I thought maybe it was of the sex scene from earlier this chapter since Nanao has the button down shirt, but Kuon was wearing a different colored shirt. So perhaps the chapter cover is from their happy domestic life in the very near future (once they’ve set up the bed)? :D
Kuon looks sleepy more than anything, but this is still a very sweet way to end the chapter >.<
So overall, I was pretty happy with this chapter and with the volume in general. As with most trilogies, I like the first the best, then the third, and finally the second *nods* I would’ve liked to see Kuon completely naked, Kuon drunk, them telling Hisa-nii and Towa about their relationship, and them telling Kuon’s friends about their relationship among some other things, but maybe there will be an extra that addresses one of those. At least, I hope there will be an extra in the tankoubon O.o So yeah, as much as I love these two, I think this would be a good place to end the series so that it doesn’t get all dragged out *nods* In any case, thanks for reading, and take care! More (01/12/14): My, my, I’m posting at a reasonable time for once ^.^ Many thanks to September Scanlations for releasing the chapter on a weekend when I’m not busy~ Though I admit, this is the first Mujihi chapter that I was not looking forward to. Partially because I was going to toss everything aside to do this rant and be even more behind on anime/manga releases (fortunately, things have died down after Christmas and New Year), but mostly because I didn’t want to find out about Satonaka. But anyways, what’s done is done, so here we go!
So, the magazine cover. Care to guess what my very first complaint is? If you guessed Nanao’s blush and lips, you’re correct! ;) Or perhaps I’ve just gotten very predictable… Anyways, is Nanao wearing… pink? *squints* Well, I guess it’s kinda lavender. For Kuon’s outfit, that actually looks like something Nanao would wear. Perhaps Nanao is dressing his beloved? :3 Aside from both of them smiling pretty happily, I think the best part of this is Kuon’s apron. Come on, why have we not seen this yellow, chicken-themed apron in the series before? Such an improvement from plain black XD
OH WHY HELLO THERE :D *drools * The darn text is blocking our view of Kuon’s lovely muscles *pouts* But at least we get to see him hovering protectively over Nanao. Next time, Kuon, off with your shirt.
Recap and nice use of black at the edges. I find it kinda funny how the black and white cover had Kuon with his chest exposed, and now suddenly he’s fully clothed. I think it’s going backwards XD (though this page seems to be broken on Batoto)
Nanao looking sad, and thinking that Kae is still an issue is a pretty good guess on Kuon’s part. In the lower left panels, I do like how the look in his eyes changes.
Well, I guess actions speak louder than words, and it’s easier to just strip Nanao rather than press further with questions? Then again, this might be more effective since Nanao probably would not answer. Though Nanao’s face looks a bit strange? I can’t quite put my finger on it but it might be the eyes… (on a side note, I keep accidentally turning off the Beats audio on my laptop, and I keep forgetting that Fn + b is what turns it back on).
Dun dun du- oh no nononono Nanao baby please don’t cryyyyy D: *wanting to cry myself* Unh, Nanao in tears never fails to break my heart T.T *hugs him tightly*
A bit blurry in the upper right but oh well. More importantly… oh no, now it looks like Nanao is the one going backwards. I’ve really been hoping that Nanao’s emotional state had improved since the last volume, but I guess not. Then again, considering what Satonaka put him through, I suppose I can’t blame him entirely. Let me guess, Nanao’s gonna say that he doesn’t like Aikawa anymore.
But clearly Nanao won’t be able to do this because he’s been in love with Aikawa for so long. Reminds me of my favorite quote from Junai no Seinen by Fujisaki Kou: “Once he experienced the warmth of being loved, he could no longer stand the coldness of being alone.” (One of the reasons I want to change my tumblr layout is that there is no search bar). But really, even with Nanao sprouting such nonsense about wanting to sleep with other guys, it’s horribly obvious that he doesn’t mean it.
Oh, Nanao *sighs* Surely Kuon can tell that Nanao is lying through his teeth, and it’s just a matter of time until he calls Nanao out on that…
But it appears that Kuon just left? Perhaps he thinks that Nanao needs some time to cool his head. I’m sure that he would’ve wanted to stay (especially with Nanao not wanting to be alone at night or something), but there are times when it’s just more appropriate to leave the other person alone.
Ooh, Mikado! Another perceptive person who will definitely be able to tell that something’s wrong with Nanao.
Aww, Mikado is worried about his older brother. Such wonderful brotherly love~ Though “niisan”? It’s weird because I’m still very used to Mikado addressing Nanao as “aniki.” I wonder what brought about this fairly recent change. Well, for starters, Nanao is not wearing glasses. That’s a pretty dead giveaway already.
Yikes, looking like the old Nanao. I do wonder which one Mikado is referring to, the Nanao from MnO or the Nanao from even before that. In any case, perhaps it’s a good thing that Nanao didn’t run into Kimiko-sama. Who knows what sort of wrath she would’ve brought down from the heavens? But yikes again, Satonaka… :/ I can’t believe that Nanao willingly came to his class. No, wait, I actually can indeed believe it *sighs again* But wow, even Nanao’s classmates notice that he’s acting weird.
Though the nerve of Satonaka to speak to Nanao so casually after whatever it was that he did :/ However, it did break my heart a bit that Nanao couldn’t even bring himself to react. But that line Satonaka gave about “All you had to do was paint me as a villain. So why didn’t you?” That sounds like… Satonaka WANTED Nanao to do as such while talking with Kuon. In which case, it seems like my theory about the “rape” being yet another scheme by Satonaka isn’t so far from the mark…
Yeah, it reaaaaally sounds like the events from the previous chapter was just so that Nanao could…blame Satonaka… actually, hang on. Asking Nanao to be angry with/insult/abuse him… that sounds more like Satonaka faked raping Nanao mainly to get Nanao’s attention under the guise of helping with Kuon and Nanao’s relationship. * buries face in hands and sighs hard* Oh, but could that perhaps be Kuon?
*bursts out laughing* Oh god, I’m glad to see him, but I’m pretty sure that’s the fourth jacket of his that has a fluffy/furry collar/trim XD Must go edit my tumblr post about that. But thank goodness for Kuon’s perseverance. Don’t let Nanao get away!
Yay for Kuon calling Nanao out on his blatant lies. But hmm, it would appear that Nanao’s low self-esteem has just gotten even worse. I thought that this had been resolved already? Regardless, it’s time for Kuon to work his magic…
Ooh, Kuon, watch the head! *winces* But that wonderful declaration certainly does make up for it~
Oh god, Satonaka sure does have horrid timing. Though he’s probably dumping an entire can of gasoline into the fire on purpose. Eh, though why would Satonaka have a spare pair of glasses for Nanao?
…sh!t… *buries face in hands again and sighs harder* I think that is going to be Nanao’s cue to run off. Though those are Nanao’s glasses? The frames in the previous page look slightly thicker and more devoid of color than what I imagined. But at least this confirms my long-time theory that Nanao doesn’t actually need glasses \O/ Yay for that.
Ah, there Nanao goes. And now would be Kuon’s cue to kill Satonaka, or at least do something just short of murder.
But hah! I was right! (With one of my proposed alternative scenarios, anyway) Satonaka did not actually go completely through with raping Nanao \O/ That absolutely does not excuse the fact that he hurt Nanao so badly, but I’ll take whatever victory I can get for now *slumps down in relief* Thank you to Sakuraga-sensei for at least that.
Even so, copping a feel aside (because sadly I don’t expect anything else from Satonaka), leading Nanao in his fragile/vulnerable state to believe that they had sex was still… *shakes head* I’ll have to finish that thought with the next chapter. Though I’m surprised that Kuon hasn’t physically harmed Satonaka either. Speaks a lot to Kuon’s character growth, ne? At least there’s one character in this series that got some… But oh, I’m also surprised at what Kuon says there at the end of this page. It sounds like he had accepted that Satonaka would still be an important part of Nanao’s life. Well, I guess that opinion has changed.
…and of course Satonaka was doing this because he loves and wants Nanao… *buries head in hands once more and sighs hardest* Seriously, what a twisted, twisted way of showing that you love someone -_- But you know what’s really bothering me? I want Kuon to just tighten that tie and strangle Satonaka. It’s not because I want Satonaka to be punished (later, not right now), but it’s only because the mystery/psychological lover in me is calling for it ^^; Ties and scarves (like in that one Tantei Gakuen Q case) around someone’s neck is like a free weapon/invitation to choke the life out of them… *coughs* I never wear scarves, by the way.
Oh, that’s another surprising statement too, that Satonaka actually hates Kuon. Surely Satonaka couldn’t have been happy with someone else stealing Nanao away, but I don’t know why I never thought about it like that *scratches head* Heh, Satonaka deserves a lot more than a lecture, but I guess that’s enough from Kuon right now. Shame Kuon didn’t take that opportunity strangle Satonaka (but then the story would be quite a different one ^^;). But oh, Kuon is 20 years old? I did not know that *nods* Does that make Nanao about 22 years old?
Oh my! Kuon is just full of surprising statements today, isn’t he? *is impressed* I sure never thought about it like that either, but now that he mentioned it… both Satonaka and Nanao have a sadistic side to them, and more importantly, they hide behind a mask and never ever reveal their true feelings.
…well, can I just say that I’ve fallen in love with Kuon even more and would very much like to marry him if he wasn’t already taken? Oh god, that was hot *dies in the face of Kuon’s determination*
Argh, and now we have to wait another few months. Shame because my interest in the Mujihi series has been restored *nostrils flare and steam blows out of my ears* But hey, looks like there’s gonna be another chapter after all! Good thing this volume isn’t going to be as short as I feared. For the next chapter… we’ve dodged the bullet regarding Satonaka’s apparent rape, but he still needs to be punished for what he’s done. I think that it’s time for Nanao to finally confront Satonaka *nods* And of course time for Kuon and Nanao to have make-up sex (probably not until the tankoubon comes out, but I’m guessing Kuon will top and Nanao will blush and cry a lot), but mostly for Nanao and Satonaka to have a very serious chat. So yeah, hope 2014 has been going well and will continue to go well for everyone! Until then!
More (03/30/14): Oh, was not expecting a new chapter already. Time sure passed by quickly :D Thank goodness it didn’t come out this upcoming week since I’m gonna be away for a trade show :) I honestly wasn’t super excited for this chapter, but at least I wasn’t dreading it like the previous one, so I suppose that’s good. Thank you as always to September Scanlations for the chapter. Let’s get started!
From just the bright colors I thought the magazine cover was for a summer themed. That is, until I realized that Nanao was wearing a cardigan, which would not make sense. Totally forgot that it’s actually spring XD But yes!!! Nanao doesn’t have bright red lips and he’s not blushing! \O/ It’s been a while ^.^ The flower in his hair seems a bit out of place, but whatever. Maybe it has some special meaning in the language of flowers. Kuon does look a bit pained though? Perhaps Nanao is accidentally choking him. Or maybe the orange juice tastes especially sour after that strawberry milkshake (does the strawberry milkshake belong to Kuon? I can’t remember if he likes sweets or not…). Cute heart-shaped straw though.
Awww, how sweet~ White suits with flowers pinned to the chest… are they getting married?! :D :D :D That’s wonderful! According to Henshin Dekinai and Iya yo Yamete yo, Holland is the place to be ^.^ As such, I can forgive the extremely plain background and nearly complete absence of black. But oh my, a wedding~ Somehow I feel like Kimiko-sama would totally be in charge of the whole thing XD And I would very much like to see both of them smiling soon. If not by the end of this chapter, hopefully in the next one?
University library? That’s a strange place to be. I thought that Kuon was last seen lecturing Satonaka-sensei, so shouldn’t he be looking for Nanao rather than going off to study? Oh, but the girl by the bookshelf is drawn in more detail than most of the other background characters - you can clearly see her clothes and she actually has a face with eyes O.o I was rather excited to see Kuon wearing yet another fur-collared jacket… until I remembered that he was already wearing it in the previous chapter. Never mind then~
LOL for some reason my first thought was that Kuon was checking out that girl, which is absolutely ridiculous of course. And what’s also ridiculous is that the girl appears to be wearing jeans underneath her dress? *squints* Maybe that’s actually her two legs and she has really weird socks, but that looks a bit like a gigantic cuff for jeans *shrugs* Ohhhhh, rather than studying, perhaps Kuon was unconsciously drawn here because it was where he first saw Nanao. Though I’m not sure why Kuon would look in the library since we have never seen Nanao in the library aside from that flashback in the last volume. Maybe it’s just for romantic/plot purposes?
More flowers. Actually, there have been a lot of flowers, haven’t there? Flowers and fruit too. Not sure if they’re there for decoration or if there’s a special meaning that I’m much too lazy to look up. Oh well. Flashbacks to both MnO and MnA… Ha, I’m not sure about Satonaka understanding, but he definitely abandoned reason :( *sighs in disappointment over his character derailment*
Oh hey look, more flowers. And oh hey look, still too lazy to look them up XD Though is it just me or does Kuon’s imaginary grip on Nanao’s wrist look extremely painful? It seems like Kuon could easily snap the bones if he tries *winces* Then a view of the school, perhaps a change in POV now?
Oops, just a change in scenery. Ooh, though Kuon’s not being very subtle, is he, calling Nanao by his given name like that XD But how promising! It would be so great if Kuon could introduce Nanao as his beloved to those two :D And I guess the next step would be coming out to Towa and Hisa-nii since Kimiko-sama already knows and I’m pretty sure Mikado knows too *nods* And is that a slight smile I see on Kuon’s lips? :) Though oh my, so the glasses guy is actually the shorter of the two… *getting thoughts, very dirty thoughts*

Oh my, and things really are coming full circle. First Kuon goes to where he first saw Nanao, and now Nanao goes to where he was gonna confess in MnO. Does this mean this volume might be the last? I can’t remember if there was gonna be another volume or not. So Nanao is sitting in Kuon’s seat… and was there always an entry way and trashcan over there? *checking MnO* Oh yes, there was indeed a trashcan and a window or glass door *nods*
Such a lovely but sad look on Nanao’s face. I do remember him thinking in MnO that he might throw up since he was so nervous. Nice tie-in there. It is a bit sad that Nanao is running away from Kuon at the moment, but it will surely be fine because the Kuon of the present will always chase after him :)
Mmm, Kuon would definitely get angry because he’s extremely kind-hearted. I think now would be a good time for Kuon to show up. And nice use of black in between the panels.
*laughs wryly* Kuon does indeed seem to have that effect on people (i.e. Nanao and the readers), making them fall in love with him even more. But again, it will surely be fine because this was only a one-sided breakup (even Kuon said so himself a few pages ago), and so Nanao will see the error of his ways soon. Freeze over… preserving… cryogenics… random, 7 Seeds is a freakin awesome series once you get into it :)

I’m sure this is what Nanao needs to hear most right now >.< And I did really love the diagonal-ish angle during this scene. I don’t remember there being a lot of panels with angles like this either *nods*
Oh god *throws up hands and gives up* Of all the romantic things that Kuon has said in the Mujihi series, I think this quite possible takes the cake >.< *flails everywhere* Because seriously! I’ve totally fallen in love with Kuon even more >.< I don’t blame Nanao for all-out crying at those beautiful works >.<
Mmm, self-confidence. Reminds me of the scene in Sex Pistols (it’s still the only OVA I keep rewatching for YonekunixShirou <3 <3 <3) where Yonekuni tells Shirou (I keep thinking his name is ‘iinchou’…) to have more self-confidence :)

Though… it seems like this was an awfully short chapter? I feel like the other chapters had thirty-something pages whereas this only has twenty-something. As always, can’t have a rant without starting off with a complaint over Nanao’s blushing and overly red lips. But since he could just be embarrassed over receiving a lovely bouquet of flowers from his beloved, I suppose it’s forgivable this time. Sunflowers! A perfect reminder of summertime. Kuon looks…a bit strange, and not just because of his lumberjack shirt. That line under his eyes makes him look kinda old, and his face is a bit too serious and not as loving as I would like. But oh well, it’s still a pretty sweet image. And Nanao’s wearing a necklace, which I still think is Kuon’s influence :)
Hmm, I feel like that little black splotch under Nanao’s eye might be him blushing -_- But my main complaint here would be that they don’t show all of Kuon. Granted, Kuon’s hand looks pretty nice, but it would be even nicer if we could see all of him. Or maybe there wasn’t enough space? The sparkles outside the window kinda looks like snow, but it’s probably just stars or something… oh my, if the curtains are completely open, anyone could see them while they’re going at it? ^^; *whips out some binoculars* I thought Kuon’s room had a wall next to the bed, so maybe it’s Nanao’s room?
Ah, right, Kuon invited Nanao over to his house. Hopefully Hisa-nii and Towa are out. And the windows on the second floor (I’m assuming Kuon’s room is on the second floor) have windows that open up and down, so maybe the black and white chapter cover is indeed from Nanao’s room? I honestly can’t remember if Nanao’s room had a window next to the bed though…
Looks like they’re gonna go for it, and if Kuon had a jacket in the last chapter then it’s now off. One step closer to his being naked \O/ Aww, but Nanao, there’s nothing that you have to apologize for :(
Ah? From Nanao’s reaction in this page, it seems like he’s more annoyed rather than distraught over the news. Kinda mismatched with his reaction to thinking that something did indeed happen with Satonaka. So I guess that means the possible final confrontation with Satonaka won’t be very angsty or heavy at all. I do hope it won’t be pushed aside as a practical joke at least.

Oh, so we’re actually getting a sex scene now? Going from Sakuraga-sensei’s previous volumes, usually the story would go straight to the conclusion now, and then provide the sex scene in the tankoubon. But whatever, can’t complain :3 Though Nanao’s expression in the middle of the page kinda looks like he’s dealing with an exasperating problem more than anything XD
Ha ha ha, of course Kuon would be able to say things like “You’re adorable” with a completely serious face. And oh, giving a Nanao a tender hug already? Should Nanao prepare himself to hear even more touching words?
Aww, there there, Kuon *pats him* Now that he mentioned it, I think that I really would’ve liked to see more of how Kuon felt at the moment that Nanao tried to break things off.
It’s rather adorable how Nanao hasn’t really been able to speak coherently this chapter due to Kuon’s…ah… talent in bed ;) But the angle from the lower right panel where we can see both Nanao’s face and nipple is a bit awkward. Though not overly surprising considering how unnaturally flexible Nanao can appear during sex scenes (I have the MnA one at the classroom in mind).
Wahhhhh, Kuon’s face is so flushed! >.< Me like a lot. And yes! Kuon’s shirt is off! \o/ Lovely back as always. Next step, his pants? :D Though did Nanao lose his glasses at the same time?
Nope, glasses still there. And it doesn’t look like Kuon will lose the pants either. But at least we made some progress with the shirt. And I suppose it’s pretty fair that Nanao still has his own shirt own instead of being completely naked. I cannot remember what Kuon’s necklace looked like earlier, but on this page it looks like a ring on a chain? *cough*propose*cough*

Well, not quite a love confession, but profanity must mean that Kuon’s feeling pretty good XD And Nanao is so what exactly? A bit too much emphasis on Nanao blushing, but oh well. That’s quite a money shot.

Aww, Kuon looks so very adorable being told that he is loved. I don’t think he usually makes this kind of face when Nanao tells him so~ Another passionate hug… and maybe the start of another round? XD
Ahhhh, those words sound so much like a proposal. If they were to get married, I’m sure that Kuon would have an extremely moving speech/vow >.< Though darn it! Kuon, why did you put your clothes back on already? You didn’t even take your pants off! D: *is a bit disappointed* (Oh my, my dad just came up behind me. Awww, Nanao looks so freaking adorable nuzzling Kuon’s hand. Guess he really is a neko :) And oh, you can just see it in Kuon’s eyes just how much he loves Nanao right now. But gasp! He really did go through with a proposal! :D Not a marriage proposal, but good enough.
Wow, I sure don’t blame Nanao for looking so shocked. And Kuon’s even explaining how he can take care of Nanao and stuff >.< Though… Kuon will have to move out of the Aikawa house? Somehow the thought of him being away from Hisa-nii and Towa makes me very sad :(

Yup, Kuon once again confirms that he pretty much always knows the best thing to say. Perhaps he could write a book on it. Bestseller right there. Unless he can only come up with these things because it’s Nanao?

Whoa, stop right there, Kimiko-sama. The mysterious Shirahane parents have been brought up! O.o We still don’t know what exactly it is that they do, but at least we learn here that they live somewhere else. Overseas? And not getting much support… well, the Shirahane siblings seem pretty well off (and with a housekeeper and all), so I guess Kimiko means emotional support and the like. But ahhhh, calling Nanao “Nana-chan” and then giving Kuon the Talk… she’s such a wonderful older sister T.T Though I’m still sad that Nanao still doesn’t want to tell Hisa-nii and Towa about their relationship. Perhaps someday soon?
Sigh, Satonaka. I think this is one of the few times where I am actually not happy to see him (unlike, for example, MnA where I thought he was the best part of the chapter). To call what he did to Nanao “teasing” is a gross understatement, but I agree that Kuon really would kill him if there was a next time. But there had better not be one O.o Haven’t seen Nanao wear a trenchcoat like that before.
Hmm, well, at least it’s something that Satonaka now accepts his own faults I suppose. But oh hey, some scenes from MnO :D And yes, while Nanao and Satonaka are rather alike, I guess Nanao and Kuon have some things in common too. Though that "Sir?" from Nanao in the bottom left. If Nanao actually said "Sensei?", then I would've preferred it to be left like that. But no matter.
…oh f#ck. This is going to be the page that has me closest to tearing up T.T Satonaka is still very much a sleazebag, but I still like him, and it absolutely kills me to see a character that I like in a truly unrequited love (a bit reminiscent of Yashiro from Saezuru towards Kageyama. Why doesn’t Kageyama KNOW, darn it?! *sobs*). Because that confession is probably the most honest thing Satonaka has ever said throughout this entire series… and Nanao just laughs in his face T.T Nanao doesn’t have any ill intentions at all and truly just believes Satonaka is joking like he usually does, and so that makes it all the more painful T.T Sure, Satonaka’s not being thrown in jail or getting beaten up by Kuon or anything, but this is probably the worst punishment he could ever get for everything he’s done.
Hmm, I’m not sure about the mature thing, but I still kinda feel like crying a bit for Satonaka. Ha ha ha, it’s true that Kuon has his stalker-ish moments (then again, so does Nanao as of a few chapters ago), but he does indeed deserve some praise for trusting Nanao to handle things with Satonaka for one last time. Btw the leaves and branches in the middle right are rather prettily drawn.
Oh man, they really did move in together. There’s actually something weird about that fact… maybe because the majority of the Warui series takes place in high school, and none of those high school characters are living together on their own? But oooh, I really wonder how Hisa-nii and Towa will survive without Kuon being there to be the lone voice of reason. But Nanao in his ankle socks is rather cute.
WHAT. Nanao used to be a tutor? When was this?! O.o And to whom? Because I would be impressed if his tutees (had to look up what was the opposite of “tutor.” What a funny word XD) were able to actually get things done in his very beautiful presence. LOL at Kuon spilling his coffee btw. Still, I think it would be a good idea for Nanao to get a part-time job. He might enjoy being a housewife (hee hee, he made the perfect coffee for Kuon), but I’m sure he still has his pride and would not want to be a “kept” person *nods*
Cooped up, huh? I personally don’t like the implication behind that, but it works for them so it’s fine. Kinda goes back to MnO when Nanao tells Kuon to hurry and lock him away :) But LOL they’re wearing matching v-neck shirts! Kuon’s style really is rubbing off on Nanao XD Though are capris still in fashion? I don’t see many people wearing them. And Nanao might not be wearing that pair much longer if his coffee spills all the way. I do like how Nanao’s face is drawn in that middle panel.
LOL why break in a new bed when you can break in a floor? Very considerate of Kuon to draw the curtains… heeeeey, maybe the black and white chapter cover is of their new place? The windows do kinda match :D I thought maybe it was of the sex scene from earlier this chapter since Nanao has the button down shirt, but Kuon was wearing a different colored shirt. So perhaps the chapter cover is from their happy domestic life in the very near future (once they’ve set up the bed)? :D
Kuon looks sleepy more than anything, but this is still a very sweet way to end the chapter >.<
So overall, I was pretty happy with this chapter and with the volume in general. As with most trilogies, I like the first the best, then the third, and finally the second *nods* I would’ve liked to see Kuon completely naked, Kuon drunk, them telling Hisa-nii and Towa about their relationship, and them telling Kuon’s friends about their relationship among some other things, but maybe there will be an extra that addresses one of those. At least, I hope there will be an extra in the tankoubon O.o So yeah, as much as I love these two, I think this would be a good place to end the series so that it doesn’t get all dragged out *nods* In any case, thanks for reading, and take care!
