This song is too beautiful, and concludes Hakuoki series perfectly! The lyrics go with the image so well. (I almost broke into tears when hearing "I wish to become a willowy wind, to dissipate the tears of your heart" while Kosuzu & Oume appeared on screen.)
What's more, the full length version is actually about the happy ends in Hakuoki game!(I try to keep the sentences in it original order so it's easier to compare with the original lyrics.)

Notes
1. 光る風 (hikaru kaze) - Although I dunno if this is meant to be a pun... The longest running (and most historically accurate) Shinsengumi manga is "風光る" (Kaze Hikaru).
2. 散り急ぐ花 (chiriisogu hana, blossoms that scatter hastily) - This usually refers to sakura (cherry blossom) because sakura bloom in full only for a couple days before their petals scatter and fall. It's also a metaphor of a person who lived to his fullest during his too short life.
3. 命を削り (inochi wo kezuri, shorten life) - In Hakuoki game, this phrase is frequently used to describe becoming Rasetsu.
4. 駆け抜ける (kakenukeru) - This phrase is mostly used for "run by" or "run through", but it also means "being active/shined for a very short time" like a shooting star. Yep. Boshin War.
5. 浅葱色 (asagiiro) - Pale blue, the color of Shinsengumi's uniform, and often represents Shinsengumi.
Personal thoughts
1. 無口な (mukuchina, taciturn) - Anybody can be not talkative, but in Hakuoki the only one labeled as "mukuchina" is Saitou. I'm a little surprised to see it here since this isn't supposed to be a song only for him. XD
2. Cried again at "The man standing beside the cherry tree... can now smile blissfully under this asagiiro sky". After all the pains and losses they've been through, they finally come to a happy end.
3. This is pretty much a song sang by a girl to her lover (during/after battle). In Hakuoki it's obviously Chizuru. In Reimeiroku this only fits Oume... Although the anime barely showed anything about their love or Serizawa's goal.
4. In this song there's no passionate romance, just deep care and love. "I want to sooth your pain." "I won't stop you from pursuing your goal, but I'll be here waiting for your return." That's ideal couple IMO. ;)
