Australia is larger than all of Europe but has only 20 million people throughout the entire country. Despite the sparse population everyone is soo friendly. Howie and I just returned from a 5 day backpacking trip and the streams were clean enough to DRINK from without treating the water. We were short on food towards the end of the trip and this lovely Australian couple gave us so much to lighten their own backpacks. Clean air, river crossings, campfires, sleeping on cold ground, and kangaroo sightings! Tonight I look forward to a real bed and my first shower in 5 days.
