So I need an OOOHZ icon
So I saw Kamen Rider OOOHHHHZUH today, because I was holding back to watch it.
Not quite as exciting right off the bat as, say, Double, but then I'm one of the few people who disliked how Double developed as it went on. OOO, on the other hand, has a rather likable main character who doesn't look like a prettyboy (oh thank youuuuu), some nods to some really old rider tropes (mysterious foundation in the form of the Kogami Organization, interesting race of monsters with very cool powers much like the Grongi, etc etc.)
Eiji himself is a nice change from the previous riders--he rather reminds me of Godai Yuusuke with his lackidasical attitude and his strong sense of justice. In fact, I was surprised when he attempted to make a stand and grab the dead police officer's gun, or that he didn't try to go "What? Eh? No! What?" when it was time for him to battle.
The episode ended rather quick for me, but it does make a nice lead-in to the battle with the Mantis Greed and the Mantis Mummy, who hasn't been taken care of yet. Still, the special effects, the fighting, and the monsters all looked insanely cool.
gekidasa mentioned in her blogpost that OOO kind of feels like Kabuto on crack, and I agree. It's much lighter-hearted then Kabuto for sure, but I'm sure that there will be interesting developments ahead.
