It's probably not normal to get so excited over research

Found an academic article on bounty hunting in the old west in what appears to be an awesome journal to which I have free (!!!!) access via the county library system and made rather embarrassing squeeing noises about said find. So clearly my dream job would be to research esoteria for fannish academia (not the least of which being that it probably wouldn't require a master's degree of some kind and I could probably get away with just direct linking to my sources instead of writing proper citations).

Where can I find this job and who do I have to [insert culturally inappropriate behavior of choice] to get it?
