Wow, I only went one day and I regret not going all three. MechaCon was brilliant, like it was two years ago, only this time much bigger and cooler.
I was Angel Starr and my sister was Ciel in Wonderland, and although my sister got more attention (well-deserved too, since she was such a cutie!) I had a few people freak out and ask for a picture. Apparently I missed a Franziska and Trucy cosplayer, which stinks! I wanted to take pictures with other Phoenix Wright characters. Oh well.
The cosplayers this time were fantastic! My favorites were the Sebastian that actually had a tray and sweets wandering around (he was perfectly in character and offered my sis sweets- too cute) and the Panty, Stocking, and Garterbelt group. I also got a hug from a Dad cosplayer.
I also ran into a friend of mine who was cosplaying Jane with her dad as Dad (he was pretty darn sweet, too- had a fake cake that doubled as storage for the day). It was her first con, too, and she was so excited! It made me really happy to see her enjoying herself, especially since she's new to the area.
I managed to get a really cute handmade bow, a handmade Team 10 bag, and a drawing of Clawdeen Wolf by a huge Phoenix Wright fan who was really happy to see me! (And $8 for a really good traditional drawing was a very good commission price and she was overall such a sweet artist. I need to find her Tumblr.) My sister got this really cute squeaky onigiri stuffed animal by the same girl who made my bow and now I'm regretting not getting one because WOW really cute.
The best (albeit unexpected) part was the fact that I got to meet Purple Kecleon, one of my favorite artists! I didn't even realize she would be there, but I saw her art and immediately recognized it. I bought one of the doujins she was selling and it's so cute. ;`;
A great weekend, overall.
