SO. I was all watch me do this horror meme and then ... Matt Good happened. And then A Friday at work happened, then there was an advance screening of Three Musketeers, and Nocturne and a day of feeling mostly blah and ... well I'm catching up now! Right here, right now! SPOILERS for the movie posters shown below.
Day 02 - The horror film that you releate most to
So WHY do I relate to this movie? I have never been in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, but I did have a dead end job for a looong while, and I did work in customer service and got kind of ... stuck in one place. I was comfortable, but also STUCK, and lazy and yeah. Hindsight being 20/20 and all I can look back and see it now, but I couldn't at the time.
Also for me, a fear I have had since I was kid is the fear of something happening and somehow missing it. Like I use to worry when I would be home alone, that they would ave to evacuate my neighborhood but that I would miss it, because I'd be in the shower and not know. I realize .. this is rather irrational, and I have gotten over this fear. Mostly. There is a reason I have CBC news updates sent to my phone. I'm also the girl who spent the grand majority of the day on Sept 11th with no clue as to what was going on, and had to phone my mom at her work to be all; "umm, why is everyone walking around with shell shocked looks on their faces ..." So the whole bit where Shaun is just going about his day and doesn't see the zombies? THAT IS MY FEAR.
Day 03 - Your favorite slasher
Oh Freddy. When I was but a wee Kelly, one of my friends told me she had seen A Nightmare on Elm Street and spun this crazy tale about not being able to sleep because this monster would get you. She got a lot of the details wrong, but just her telling me about the guy with the crazy claws freaked me out. A lot. That combined with a preview I saw on Entertainment Tonight of Wes Craven's New Nightmare (they showed the scene where the hand comes alive ....) made sure that I FEARED Freddy for years. All without having ever seen a film. So. Naturally he's my favorite slasher! Because his very appearance managed to freak me out so bad that I was ... 21 before I saw a Freddy movie. And I didn't watch another one until I was 28.
Day 04 - Your favorite werewolf film
ARE YOU SHOCKED? I KNOW YOU ARE :P.
I love this movie. Just. Go. Watch it. It's amazing.
God I'd take a good makeup job in movies over CGI any day of the week, and the makeup in this movie is AMAZING. And just - everything about it. I love it. The comedy in it is dark as pitch, but there. The make up is top notch, and the end, oh the end. It fits the movie .
Day 05 - Your favorite monster movie
Everything I said about 'Werewolf? Pretty much applies to Jaws. Except it's not wicked makeup, but it's a wicked mechanical shark.
