After appointment

Okay, so I was correct, the doctor is not thrilled with my pain levels. It's the combination of a continuous sinus infection and the weather sure, but still not happy. He's just about out of ideas. So it's time to try Pamelor aka nortriptyline. Now I had a bad response to something else in the triptyline family when I was a teen - so this is a cross your fingers type situation.

To complicate matters, it says clearly on the instruction/warnings to monitor the patient carefully if they are also taking carbamazepine - *gulp* um yeah I take 600mg a day (which is as high as my body will tolerate and which I'm told is way higher then patients with chronic seizures). Sooooooo I'm looking forward to this? *Cries* I'm willing to try anything to get the pain levels down, but this is scary.

Also having no insurance really sucks. The inhaled pain meds cost $280 for four bottles of the generic (that's 40 doses all together). I'm very glad I've not become dependent on it as a pain killer. I just keep on reminding myself that I'll have medicare come July - hopefully I'll be eligible for their prescription coverage as well.

doctor, health
