Of Fandoms and Freak Outs

So unless you have been living under a rock the last few days then you know that Johnny-san finally put us out of our misery and the Hawaii DVD is on its way.  Let me tell you what this bit of news did to me.  You see the day it was announced I hadn't been on Twitter. I minding my own business and doing something non-Arashi related and then my phone kind of went nuts.  I ignored it, but then I saw a tweet notification pop up from Kiri that said "WE DID IT!!!" Yay!! What did we do.  I clicked open Twitter and HOLY SHIT!! All I see is HAWAII DVD and that was about the time that I burst into tears. We're talking big, fat Sho at the end of Quiz Show tears.  I was crying and laughing and tweeting and trying to log on to CDJapan. So now the DVDs are safely ordered and now we begin the wait until April!!!

That was my freak out so now on to fandoms.  So a few weeks ago my Oh-chan-loving-coworker did what she does best.  She breezed into my office, dropped a flash drive on desk, said "You need this in your life!" and breezed right back out.  She brings me the most random things from time to time and it's always a surprise. Well this time my surprise was a flash drive full of Kisumai and Tackey & Tsubasa.  It's not that I didn't know either of these groups. Hello if you know are a JE fangirl then you pretty much have a general idea who all their talents are.  I've listened to T&T and Kisumai in passing.  I've seen dramas that featured talents in both groups and hello I am not blind....have you seen Takki???

Me being the willing vessel that I am, loaded everything into iTunes and hit play.  Hello eargasms!! Then I start thinking to myself, "Why haven't I been listening to this before?" Oh yea, because Arashi already takes up so much of your life and then there is all the NEWS and V6 and KAT-TUN that you TRY and keep up with and now, thanks to Kiri you also are started to follow Hey!Say!Jump! more and seriously do you really have time right now to devote anymore of your love and money to more groups?  Not to mention fandoms!! Then I may or may not have started to break out into hives.

I mean there are some Johnny's groups that I am safe from when it comes to all out spazz mode. You will not find me flailing over Sexy Zone. Not because I don't think those raging balls of sunshine aren't talented, they are; but mostly because I am old enough to be each of their mothers. Now, do not get me wrong here. I like them and I like their music and they have my support, afterall they have been through some shit; but you will never hear me say that Kento or Fuma is HOT. Ok, that might be a slight lie, because in the back of one of my magazines there is a picture of them wet and it's just WRONG and well I'm slightly old, but I'm not dead and Kento did just turn 21 and well I digress.  Marius and my oldest son are the same age so I kind of feel for sexy zone like a proud Mom!

Then there is HSJ, who if it weren't for Kiri and her ridiculously cute tweets about Chii, I probably wouldn't have given much of a second glance either. I mean they are another group of just ridiculous, tiny cuteness and come on if one of your members loves Ohno Satoshi as much as you do how can it be bad right?? Then there is that one day I turned on the stream to watch Nino-san and I'm a little early and I see Chii & Yamada acting like complete fools dressed in school uniforms and well the rest is history.  Afterall I did just download their Smart concert and plan to view that bit of goodness this weekend and I will probably come out the other side with a whole new rainbow colored group that I adore.  I just have one thing to add here....Yamada can you please go back to your blonde hair PLEASE!!

So here I am faced with two "new" groups.  I can either dive in or I can stand by the wall at the dance and just watch everyone else having fun.  I look at it like this.  I kind of see myself in the middle of a circle and I'm surrounded by 5 biggest goofballs, that I love and adore more than is probably sane to admit sometimes.  Here I am in the middle of this happy circle and they've got their arms interlocked and it's a tight circle, but every now and again I can peek out from under them and "hey! they look like they are having fun over there!"  But let's face it, we've all been there and entering a new fandom is like being the new kid at school.  People look at your weird and if you say the wrong thing then you might be sitting under a tree at lunch all by yourself.

Thankfully I have people in my life who are willing to share their groups and their knowledge and if the mood hits them just right they will barf rainbows and glitter all over you and it's the most wonderful thing in the world.  I'm not saying I'm on the verge of becoming the next Kisumai or Tackey & Tsubasa superfan, but I am having so much fun splashing around outside the "storm" (see what I did there) that you just never know. So you just might find me spazzing here more than do, which is saying something because when was the last time I even updated this thing??

If you read this far you are my new favorite person!! Now, who wants to talk Hawaii DVD viewing party???

arashi, tackey & tsubasa, fandoms, kisumai, rambling
