Game of Thrones

I was really fucking annoyed because HBO went out for about five minutes around the 40-minute mark, but i didn't think i missed anything big, just most of the funeral scene at Craster's and then the beginning of the Arya stuff, not a huge deal, the Night's Watch stuff has been uneventful anyway! So today i'm reading The AV Club's review and blah blah the shocking death of Lord Commander Mormont FUCKING WHAT. WHAT!!!!!!!!!! I AM GOING TO MURDER MY CABLE COMPANY IN COLD BLOOD. IT'S NOT LIKE I WAIT ALL WEEK FOR THIS FUCKING SHOW OR ANYTHING. NO MATTER WHAT I DO I'M GETTING SPOILED BY THE INTERNET. WATCH THE EPISODE LIVE: GLITCHES OUT, MISS A HUGE MOMENT, GET SPOILED BY THE INTERNET. TRY TO AVOID BOOK SPOILERS AND READ INNOCUOUS EPISODE COMMENTARY: FUTURE BOOK EVENTS REFERENCED WITH NO WARNING, GET SPOILED BY THE INTERNET. FSGHKSHKSGKHSLGKFKLGSGKS

Anyway, anger aside, at least i didn't miss the Dany scene because that was mega badass. I had been expecting her to do the whole "surprise! I understand every word you're saying!" thing the first time she met slave owner dude, but the wait was worth it for maximum badassery in this scene. BOOM, LITERALLY ROASTED. Even though it was obvious what was gonna go down, Drogon's cries as she was walking away were so sad. :(

I have a hard time getting too blown away by Dany having an army now though because... obviously she's still not going to be getting to Westeros any time soon... Like i know that's not gonna happen until the end, when suddenly all the petty shit in Westeros gets trampled by dragons and ice zombies at the same time. So i guess for right now she just... conquers Essos?

Bran's little smile when Cat showed up in his dream: SOB. CRYING ABOUT BRAN STARK: THE LIFE

Pretty much all my thoughts about Jaime and Brienne every week just consist of me going "JAIMEEEEEEEE AND BRIENNNNNNNNE!!!!!!!!" Yelling at him to stop feeling sorry for himself and survive: ;_______; I was uncomfortable with her calling him a woman as an insult, and apparently she was just supposed to call him a coward and the misogyny was all the show, because of course it was. ://///

OH MY GOD THE SANSA AND MARGAERY SCENE. Sansa's reaction to Margaery telling her that she can live in Highgarden and they can be sisters, godddddd i'm crying just thinking about it. Of course it's obvious that’s not going to happen in this miserable fucking universe, but now i can't even hold on to a distant shred of hope since even in my fearful scanning of Game of Thrones posts on tumblr my eyes managed to scan to EXACTLY THE SENTENCE I SHOULDN’T HAVE SEEN so now i guess i know who Sansa ends up marrying, GOD FUCKING DAMMIT. I unfollowed the offending poster immediately but the damage is done. WHY DO PEOPLE NOT TAG THEIR SHIT, WHY, HOW HARD WOULD IT BE TO TAG “ASOIAF SPOILERS” WHAT IS THAT LIKE 14 LETTERS TO TYPE, IS THAT GONNA BREAK YOUR FUCKING FINGERS? Basically it has been a bad 24 hours for me and spoilers.

Ah Theon. Psychological torture it is! I did kinda feel bad for him when he was talking about Ned being his true father. Maybe should've realized that a little sooner, idiot.

Oblivion

SALLYYYYYYYYYY

As soon as they first showed her i was thinking/hoping that Sally was an evil computer simulation, so as the movie went on i was really hoping for two things: that Sally would be revealed as such and get super creepy, and that we'd get to see Jack, Victoria, and Julia on their original mission. AND THOSE THINGS CAME TRUE! SO THOSE WERE FAR AND AWAY MY FAVORITE PARTS OF THE MOVIE. Basically that whole sequence of Jack flying into the Tet and flashing back to the Odyssey mission was the best. EVIL COMPUTERS AND SPACESHIPS, AAAAAAAHHHHHH

The way Sally got progressively more menacing obviously reminded me a lot of GLaDOS, but of course original recipe HAL is the intentional reference, as there were approximately one bajillion 2001 homages in this thing (including exact space baby lighting on the clones! i guess Kosinski really likes that movie, huh?)

So anyway it was really super pretty, which is the entire reason i was excited for it in the first place! I have to have something to fill the Tron void, ya know. I did think it dragged in a lot of places, particularly the flat Jack/Julia romance (did not need to see an extended version of the Empire State Building flashback, i got it the first time) and i wanted a lot more of Victoria. Like you'd think the group at the end would've had a few more Jacks and Vickas, right? There are a bunch of bored and confused clones just sitting around out there somewhere.

As much as i love clones, that aspect was like a lesser version of Moon, plus Tom Cruise is just a boring dude to have an army of. Would've preferred if Victoria were the protagonist, to be honest. I listened to The National's "Exile Vilify" this evening, which i hadn't done in a while, but GLaDOS/Portal 2 feelings that sort of coalesced with Victoria and Sally feelings and aaahhhh moody stylish sci-fi, my fav, cozy like a warm blanket.

Jaime Lannister, sci-fi hero (ღ◕◡◕ღ) JUST ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE GAME OF THRONES/TRON CROSSOVER THAT LIVES IN ALL OF OUR HEARTS

The latest episode of Doctor Who was the first time i have really super enjoyed an episode of that show in what seems like forever. Ghost stories as time travel stories!!!! The style of it was perfect. The preview for next week has also got me pretty excited because holy shit i have been wanting to see other rooms on the TARDIS for such a long time.

movies, game of thrones, doctor who
