SSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPP

I'm alive! IT'S A NON-DENOMINATIONAL WINTER HOLIDAY MIRACLE!

I just finished catching up on all of The Big Bang Theory (like i said i would eight months ago! durrrr) and i'm depressed that i'm done because it makes me happy. I guess that's a feeling i always get when i marathon sitcoms, though. Cons: Howard is super friggin creepy (although at the very least the show is aware of that fact, and they seem to have balanced it out by making him sympathetic in other ways i guess) and Leonard seems to have gotten increasingly annoying, but Pros: SHELDON! I swear it isn't my pre-watch Penny/Sheldon bias talking, but i just don't like Penny/Leonard. Maybe it's a holdover from my initial disgusted impression of the show as "oh look nerds are awkward around hot girls HA HA JOKES" (also: "nerds and girls: DIFFERENT! HA HA JOKES") or it being an "aw shucks the underdog gets the girl" trope but in any case it just doesn't work for me. But whatevs, it is all amusing and not as prejudiced against nerds as i once assumed because there is a lot of it i find to be WAY TOO RELATABLE. Also it has the best, catchiest intro ever that brings me great joy whenever it starts.

See, the Penny/Stuart thing is where i got the most fed up with Leonard. Because i really like Stuart and i really liked him with Penny. And here is Leonard being a passive-aggressive dick to both of his supposed friends. And we're meant to root for THAT? Instead of the ACTUAL sympathetic nice guy? The whole show has pretty much made Penny/Leonard a foregone conclusion (even beside the fact that i already knew they get together in season three) and yet i just DON'T LIKE IT. And them finally being together is kind of laming up season three. I didn't even dislike Leonard at first, but he really got worse. Maybe it's that he's the romantic hero and i find him most intolerable in romantic situations. I mean, he is the most in tune with normal social behavior out of all four guys, which you'd think would make him okay, but it really just makes him EXTRA obnoxious when he acts like a tool, which is... most of the time. And then whenever Stuart shows up i get really sad, because he did not deserve the raw deal that he got. Oh Stuart. :( :( :(

But i did think that the surprise makeout when Leonard got back from the North Pole was SUPREMELY ADORABLE. (i wish more couples would surprise makeout!!!! IT MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER) If nothing else i am a sucker for kissing!

Whenever an episode comes along where Penny and Sheldon are forced together minus everybody else, i get REALLY EXCITED. THEY ARE MY FAVORITE THING. Which is why The Adhesive Duck Deficiency was massively, massively delightful. SHELDON DROPPING EVERYTHING TO RUN AND HELP PENNY! (HE DOES CARE! HE'S LIKE WALL-E!) SHELDON TOUCHING NAKED PENNY! (!!!!!!!) THEY SANG "SOFT KITTY" IN ROUNDS. AKHGJLFGLFLKSJHF EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT IS THE GREATEST.

I know Sheldon is basically all anyone ever focuses on (the same way Barney dominates HIMYM-- and the novelty will probably wear off here eventually too), but seriously, he is amazing. He's like a giant baby bird. A giant, insulting baby bird. Who is secretly attractive. (is it just me, or is Sheldon's supposed bad wardrobe actually the best out of all the guys?? i like all of his clothes and they are very flattering to his gangliness. IS THAT WEIRD?)

And finally, while i've never really had an interest in genderswap, i've found myself seriously considering it for this show since it still stubbornly refuses to acknowledge that real live girl nerds exist apart from Leslie Winkle and now Bernadette. How awesome would it be if it were about four socially inept yet hilarious smart girls and the hot dude across the hall! I mean, you could even incorporate it like Seinfeld did with Bizarro Jerry, where maybe Penny goes to see an ex-boyfriend and she runs into four nerdy girls next door and they are all bizarro versions of the guys! FACT: IT WOULD BE GREAT.

Sigh. Nonetheless, the continuing gradual nerdification of our dear Queen Penelope is the best. :]

P.S. This literally could not have come at a better time.

!!!! WHAT THE WHAT

I haven't been doing much in the way of fangirling lately, but i have been missing Star Trek because every time i listen to the newest Mirah album and "Bones and Skin" comes on i am reminded of the most perfect Spock vid in all the land made by the incomparable rawles and then i'm like "DANG! STAR TREK". (and i just rewatched the vid and it does, in fact, continue to stab me directly in the heart and make me cry like a little baby who cries at nerdy things that are emotionally compelling, okay, shut up, don't judge me.) So, that's a thing! And of course this reminded me that there are finallyyyyyyyy STXI HD caps out there now. I'VE WAITED SO LONG. HD HD HD HD CAAAAAAAPS HD LENS FLARES HD POINTY EARS HD FALLING HD EYEBROWS HD KISSING HD EVERYTHIINNNNGGGGGG

...

Well, that got weird.

Sometimes The Sarah Connor Chronicles randomly pops into my head out of nowhere and the thought of John/Cameron literally fills me with sadness because it was so perfect and so canon and the finale confirmation of John Connor loving his pet robot was so amazingly done and if ever there were a case of going out on a high note, that was it. It is a great and terrible feeling.

TV i have watched in recent months:

  • Flash Forward: I hate it! But because i started it i will be incapable of giving up on it until at least a season break. Ugh. Just mentioning it makes me want to complain about its myriad failings as an entertaining or well-executed television show.

  • V: Even worse! Oh, Elizabeth Mitchell and Morena Baccarin and bonus Alan Tudyk. So much better than everything about that worthless show. Thankfully it is gone for a large chunk of time and i am going to forget it ever existed and then never watch it again.

p.s. why is it that the new shows i choose to watch are the worst freaking ones! I could be watching Modern Family, i hear that's excellent! BUT NO. I make poor choices in the foolish hope for more quality science fiction television. :(

  • House: I didn't think they could make me stop liking House/Cuddy, but this season kind of has! I liked Lucas when he was originally on the show, but shoehorning him into a totally random, weird relationship with Cuddy as an obstacle to House/Cuddy is the WOOOOOOOORST. Putting Cameron, Chase, and Foreman back together made me realize how much i like them and how much i now wildly dislike Thirteen (it finally happened for me! she is annoying!) but then Chase had stupid boring drama so blah. Whatever whatever whatever. The Wilson episode was pretty good though.

  • Dollhouse i haven't seen since they brought it back to run off the rest of the episodes, but i did write about the last new episode before the cancellation was announced ("Belonging") so here is that:

Was that... the best episode that's ever aired?!?! It may have rivaled Epitaph One for how much i liked it. Whaaaaaaat. I love Sierra, i love Topher growing a conscience, i love Victor/Sierra, i love Boyd, i love Adelle, i love Echo in very very small doses becoming aware of her surroundings, i love NO PAUL, i love addressing their moral issues bluntly and disturbingly. The only thing it was missing was Dr. Saunders!

    I am such a sucker for Victor and Sierra being drawn to each other in every incarnation of themselves. It gives them this kind of purity that is just so endearing. Priya as an ACTUAL PERSON knowing that she loves Victor was really heart-wrenching, i guess because juxtaposed with Nolan's utter grossness it just seemed that much lovelier. ;___;

The fuckedupedness of Topher having to chop up and dispose of a body was amazing. Seeing him covered in blood and traumatized all because he finally CARED, it's just... wow. TOPHER. THAT GUY! Who would have thought??

The image of Echo's notes etched on the inside of her pod was so cool. I like Echo on a theoretical level, just not when she's actually present. Ha haaaaa. It's really too bad about Eliza.

OH GOD I HATE THAT I LOVED AN EPISODE OF THIS SHOW. That sucks now that it's been cancelled. Funny joke! They gave it a second season to finally grow on me when i would have been perfectly content had it been axed early on! Why has this become the trend! Let's give ratings-challenged shows a second season to see if they catch on and time for the people who actually watch to really get attached-- oh still sucky ratings? Okay cancelled. Ah, Pushing Daisies and SCC. AIN'T LIFE GRAND.

  • Doctor Who: Waters of Mars was BY FAR the best special since last season ended, i really liked it a lot. The Doctor got super scary. And of course the preview for the next special got me extremely excited for obvious reasons. Oh gosh i am getting so nervous about the regeneration. I hope it's sufficiently epic, but i don't know how they can ever top last season's finale.

  • HIMYM: Sadly i'm not loving the show as much as i used to, but i just have to say that the brief introduction of TIME-TRAVELING MARSHALL made me so, so happy. TIME-TRAVELING MARSHALL!!!!!!!!!! The thought of that alone is amazing.

  • NBC's Thursday comedy lineup: Community and Parks & Recreation have usurped The Office and 30 Rock as my favorite shows. The Office has come back around on being pretty mindlessly entertaining (Ryan and Kelly! Ryan dressed in increasingly douchey hipster clothes! Kelly and Erin! etc.) but 30 Rock i am just not liking this season. It's become so overbearingly self-referential, and Liz doesn't seem like Liz anymore, she just seems like Tina Fey. I dunno. It's weird. Community i was a little bit wary of in the beginning because of Jeff's chauvinism, but Joel McHale is excessively charming and great (and tall and dreamy, etc.) and i could not hold that against him for long. And Britta very surprisingly turned out to be offbeat and feminist and awesome (her squirrel costume in the Halloween episode: ADORABLE. The Halloween episode in general was amazing.) and i started to like Jeff and Britta acting like bitter exes without actually being exes (bitter exes is one of my favorite things okay) and every single one of the characters is likeable and hilarious and they are always put together in entertaining combinations. And Alison Brie is fantastic and seeing her in a comedy role makes me love Trudy Campbell all the more. Also there was an entire climactic montage set to the song from An American Tail. WTF AMAZINGNESS.

And then there is Parks & Rec! Tom and his shapes artwork was the greatest thing ever. Aziz Ansari is comedy gold. Leslie's ridiculous explanations for shooting Ron in the hunting episode was an insanely hilarious scene and it epitomized so much of what i love about Leslie Knope. "Bitches be crazy!"

Although i am PRETTY UPSET NOW because they just sent Dave away WTF NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Leslie/Dave has been my FAVORITE THING EVER OF ALL TIME. HE LEARNED ABOUT LESLIE'S POLITICAL LADIES TO IMPRESS HER. HE TOLD THE HOT PAGEANT QUEEN TO "WATCH IT, BUDDY". HE MADE THEIR FIRST DATE INTO THEIR SECOND DATE BECAUSE LESLIE WAS NERVOUS. IT HAS ALL BEEN SO DELIGHTFUL I CANNOT EVEN EXPRESS IT. He caaaaaaan't gooooooooo. :( :( :( :( Goddammit this is like when 30 Rock broke up Liz and Floyd (IT STILL HURTS. I STILL WANT HIM TO COME BACK... AGAIN). Dear sitcoms: why you gotta make the perfect guest star boyfriends and then take them away? IT IS MADDENING.

But here comes April/Andy to be incredibly weirdly endearing, so things aren't all bad I GUESS.

OH HEY GUESS WHAT: IRON MAN 2 TRAILER YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. TONY/PEPPER, TONY TONY TONY, WAR MACHINE, TONY, NICK FURY, EVERYTHING, FUCK YES, IRON MAN!!!!!!!!!!! This of course prompted me to rewatch the first movie. :] (spoiler alert: checking the Iron Man 2 imdb, i am so so happy to see that both Agent Coulson and Christine Everhart will be back. :D KIND OF compensates for recasting Rhodey. kind of. a little bit. as does John Slattery as Howard Stark. eff. yes.)

I have a veritable shit-ton of photos to post but which i am too lazy to edit (see: my entire Japan trip; my entire summer; my entire... year), although i might go through and try selecting some soon. I do miss posting photos! The last ones i edited and posted were on facebook, and that is just a bummer because facebook compresses the shit out of them and also nobody on facebook cares about my pictures ha ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaa.

:B
