Yes, yes, I know I haven't posted in ages. I can read the date of the last entry as well as the rest of you.
So, as many of you may recall, I was laid off from my job of eight years earlier this year. For the last six months, I've been doing contract web development work for a web development and design company in Conshohocken. There was a strong possibility of it becoming a full-time position.
Well, today they offered me a position, which I have accepted. My working title is "Systems Manager," and my rough job description will be web development for our on-going maintenance clients, managing our hosting and regular project work as time permits. It's better than it might sound, and my boss and I are on the same page, even if we can't quite put it into a concise job description.
The position is paying less than my previous job was, but I'm working in a more relaxed environment, and I'm coming in early to a young company that is experiencing growth. There some very good possibilities here. The atmosphere is great with a collaborative culture. This is best illustrated by noting that the area that my boss and the other developer work in is a 15'x45' room with whiteboards, a strip of chalkboard paint on 3 walls and a pool table. My boss and I discussed what we need to focus on for the next few weeks while shooting three games of nine-ball. This is better than the bar at MEI.
