Things I Hate About College/York:
-Thin dorm walls: Wondering why the hell there are girls giggling when I know my friends didn't sleep over, then realizing something must be funny in the room down the hall. Having to play Josh Joplin torturously quietly so as not to feel guilty about bothering others. Waking up to "Are you ready kids?" "Aye aye Captain!"
-Extreme lack of kitchen: I'd rather survive on chip crumbs from the night before than get dressed and walk all the fuck over campus to buy something from a shitty fast food place, when all I really want is oatmeal.
    -Laundry: Self-explanatory.
-Communal bathrooms: Not because it's a little creepy to think about how many other girls have used and will use "my" shower, not because I don't think the lack of privacy is super-awesome, but because if I'm brushing my teeth at 3 AM, chances are I really don't want to strike up friendly chitchat about wacky professors and how lucky I am not to have any morning classes. I DO NOT ENGAGE IN BANTER PAST MIDNIGHT. ANY NIGHT. FOREVER.
-Having no mommy (except Michelle. who smokes. enough said.): My mommy makes me macaroni and cheese. She takes me shopping and she drives. She hemmed my jeans 'cause they were too long. Sometimes she even changes my garbage for me. I miss my mommy.
-Having no daddy: He fixes my printer (which is going to remain dead until he comes up here... and Gloria only knows when that will be.) He cooks with me. He takes me to the store and gets me squash. I haven't had any squash here. I miss my daddy.
-Having no Zen or Sarah-Jean: Self-explanatory. I weep for your absence in my daily life.
-Being alone: Wednesday I went to class by myself at two-thirty. I had a quick, tasteless dinner by myself. I looked out the window as the campus got dark. I sat by myself. As I came back from marathon classes at nine thirty, I wondered how much longer I'll last like that.
-My watch: It's too small and I have no idea where to go to make it bigger.
-Living in one room: It just gets boring. And messy. Fast.
-The idiots: You can't escape them.
-The reading: It's stressful and difficult and I have trouble finding fun things to do during breaks.
-Being unable to release emotion: No one will make a movie. I can't scream. And I don't laugh nearly as much as I should.
-All the people: They're fucking terrifying sometimes.
    -Having a roommate: I can't be naked.

Things I Enjoy About College/York:
-My roommate: We always wind up giggly and nuts at two in the morning. In that regard, it's like a very long sleep-over. She also came with me to my audition and waited outside, which was very sweet.
-The city: It's pretty easy to navigate. There's no denying I can spontaneously do cool big city stuff like going to Second City. Granted, public transportation from York to anywhere else in Toronto takes as long as driving from home to Chicago... but I'm not driving, so I'm not complaining.
-Proximity to stuff: I can walk to Falafel Hut past midnight. True, I'd rather walk upstairs and eat left-over pasta salad, but veggie delight in a pita aint bad.
-Film, TV, and Society: Sometimes. Sometimes it's just tedious and I want to murder. But I like the noise the teacher's sandals make when he walks across the stage thing.
-Meal cards: I never have to pay with cash. Which rocks, because Canadian cash scares me.
-Phone cards: At least they're cheap.
-La Senza: It's easy to get to and it makes me euphoric.
-The campus on weekends: The stupid commuters are gone and things are much less hectic.
-The prettiness of York: Yeah, it's huge and I get lost all the time, but it's also gorgeous.
    -The Pepsi: Enough said.
