My mouth is dry. Because it has been hanging open ever since Victoria and I left this morning. Wow.
The York campus is fucking amazing. Just wow. For years I've had dreams about buildings and houses where you just keep walking and finding newer, stranger rooms everywhere you go. York is kind of like that. You walk upstairs in Vari hall, open a door, and you're on a roof. A roof with a building on top of it. You take an elevator to the basement of the nursing building and there are bushes and mosses and trees growing in the middle of everything. And everything is connected, apparently. I don't understand how it works, but supposedly you need only walk into one building and follow these incredibly complicated passageways and you can get just about anywhere without leaving.
Sometimes you're just walking along a seemingly typical sidewalk back to your dorm and this crazy cool modern architecture just hits you over the head. And if you look up... the ceilings and the walls and the textures! There's a cinema with these amazing old projectors displayed in the windows. And art galleries everywhere. You could go look at art at three a.m. if you wanted to. Or study religion in a strange glass building on the roof.
Have compassion, Benny just lost his cat.
I'm loving York right now, even though I know I'm going to get incredibly lost. I'm also very glad to be going home for a week. I like the school, I like the campus, but I do not like these strange social activities. Just give me my classes and the Vanier Players and I'll be okay. I have elaborate plans to watch American cable TV and eat macaroni and cheese. Must nap then get airport directions, do laundry, and pack.
