i had my first drawing class yesterday! yay! it was fun. we used postcards of well-known artists' paintings to reproduce on 18x24 sktechpads and just get used to making shapes and working with dimension (and with charcoal). it was pretty cool. everyone did surprisingly good replications, i was impressed. i don't think i did too terribly myself. after some practice, i could totally do the artist thing if all i had to do was copy other people's work!

so afterward, i figured i'd pop by joanna's starbucks to say hello since i wanted to do some walking around the city. i left my sketchbook there and, feeling like a liberated modern woman, did something i've never done before--saw a movie by myself! i watched that crazy love documentary, it was wild. it's about that guy who threw acid into his girlfriend's face when she didn't wanna be with him, blinded her, and then she married him anyway. crazy! (hence the title?) i highly recommend it. i laughed, i cried. two thumbs up. call me a regular siskel & ebert.

anyway, before the movie, i walked around the LES and it was really nice. i haven't done that in awhile. and i had some delicious gazpacho from some place on avenue a.

so i saw the movie, went back to starbucks to pick up my stuff (thanks, joanna! i know you're reading this!), went home, changed cause i was sweaty & gross, then went right back out and met up with joanna again. i guess i'm obsessed with her. staying true to our ridgewood roots, we walked around the LES with sparks in paper bags, then went to niagara, where after we finished our one drink, we poured the remainder of the sparks into our cups, and some guy behind us totally saw us and started laughing. it was funny. then some creepshow guy who looked like a greasy elvis/guido combo put his arms around us at the bar and was like, "so, what are you girls celebrating tonight?" to which joanna replied, "the married life!" and guido-elvis man seemed perplexed. we didn't stay there very long. then we went to some other bar, ate delicious food, and went home.

that's all. im getting tattooed later. yay!
