LAST THINGS FIRST: I just went to a restaurant called Moby Dick's (snerk) on the wharf and it was totally delicious. I had clams with linguini, and discovered that, no, Italian dressing and vinagrette are not the same. On the drive home, we listened to 89.5 FM, which was all big-band stuff--like, Grandma Patty era (is that a rude thing to say? That was the first comparison that popped into my mind, because once Grandma Patty asked if we had any big band CDs or what have you, and I was like "no grandma, I don't think I have any swing music on my iPod" and I felt a bit of a tool, you see.)
The drive over here was pretty dull, not gonna lie! But listening to Mom's "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me" podcasts really helped speed things along. Everything fit in one car, believe it or not (I don't, personally). I rediscovered my love for Metalocalypse, a cartoon TV show on Adult Swim, by listening to plenty of Dethklok.
Now I'm listening to a remix of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi." I am a woman of eclectic tastes.
There's some sort of music festival going on tonight, so when we were out on the wharf we could hear almost all of the music, since it was travelling over the water. I was dancing like a loon as the sun set over the ocean. How am I expected to learn, here? Are my parents crazy? Obviously this is going to be the place where I learn about how to make my own glowsticks and weave clothing out of hemp and bad decisions. I don't trust myself to learn in Santa Barbara, is what I'm saying.
Also I'm pretty tired! Which is why this is so disjointed.
Dad is watching the Giants game, which is why we drove all the way down here, after all. I have noticed that, the closer I get to moving away from them, the more attatched I get. Whyyyy are my feelings so inconvenient.
Tomorrow, we are planning to check out the campus, go to the mission (Mom is super psyched about this mission, I could not tell you why), eat someplace nice for lunch, and go to the Paradise cafe for dinner. If you ever find yourself in Santa Barbara, go to the paradise cafe. Also take me with you, because I'll probably be there as well, and you owe me for telling you about it.
Also, for the record, my throat is still sore and I have a bit of a runny nose. Why? Because I sinned in a past life. (Who knows?)
Goodnight! Drop a comment, even if you don't have an LJ account--I'm curious who's reading this.
