Article on Oricon.co.jp

I think there is some confusion somewhere (though not on this comm) concerning this article over on Oricon. The article's word choice plus a simple translation of the title and the internet may have created some misconceptions.

As far as I am aware, TOKIO is not taking a break.

The article translates roughly as follows: ( TOKIO arriving at a time of fulfillment, get their first break in 12 years!? )

sorafune, single, translation

oh i see!!! i'm so glad to finally understand what the whole article is talking about!!! thanks luxvesperis for the translations!!! love ya!!! ^^

anyway i'm just so glad that the break in the article did not literally meant TOKIO is gonna have break. hee. ^^

actually i really don't understand why TOKIO hasn't get as many #1s as i have expected them to have. cuz TOKIO has so many fabulous songs in the past 12 years. is it because the japanese have different taste to music as i do!?? i wonder why.

sometimes i felt that TOKIO is very much being under-rated & i feel so pissed. but then i'm also glad to find out that there is still a group of TOKIO-lovers here at the LJcommunity who still very much support TOKIO despite anything (chart rankings..sale figures etc etc). TOKIO will definitely survive the industry because they don't follow the hype, they don't go crazy because of low record sales, they don't get upset due to low chart ranking -- they are just TOKIO!!

cheerios to TOKIO & all TOKIO-lovers alike!!! ^^

Yep, that's exactly what I love about TOKIO!!! They don't follow the hype. They just stick to what they love doing. TOKIO is TOKIO, low chart ranking or not, I just love the boys and their music.

Rock it, TOKIO!!!!

You're welcome. I figured when you mentioned it, it was about this article. No one that I know of is worried in Japan, there was no such confusion. It was way more about Oricon's tone being rude.

TOKIO fans are many. They just don't stand out compared to other Johnny's fans. For example, this community is less than a year old. It's only here because I decided I needed a place to post all of my TOKIO things in the hopes that others might be interested in reading them. With the way Japanese pop culture works its easy to forget just how hard it is to get a number one single. TOKIO's numbers are actually amazing. But they can't feel that way. But they've gotten to a point where they don't really mind. They just want to play and they'll do whatever they can to play.

Didn't even know there was any hype about it. Isn't Oricon always kinda just the mainline of the music biz anyway (like we have Billboard here) that really focuses on numbers and the top dollar? For a group like TOKIO, it's understandable they'd only get the soptlight if they created more of a buzz than usual. To me, these kinds of mainstream mags just don't have their finger on the true wave of the industry, the fans, which is why I usually don't bother with them. I just go with that I like and hell yes, that means TOKIO!

er from what i know there are indeed fans who thought TOKIO is really having a break from showbiz & panic. ^^

haha. does that mean that you won't even be worried for just a little if you had words that TOKIO is quitting!?? ^^

Not from Oricon I wouldn't. Oricon articles are not time sensitive, they're mostly about general info (writers, composers, who's working on what, etc). If TOKIO was going to go "on a break", it would be noted at J-Web, on the wisdeshows, etc. long before it got in Oricon. Not even JE would use the (mostly) neutral pages of Oricon to report one of their groups taking a break. So, no, I really woulnd't take a second thought to it.

oh i see. i don't know japanese so even if JE were to post the news at their official website i wouldn't have known either. ^^

anyway i didn't really worried much. i only treat the article as a "speculation" kinda news. but still glad everything turns out fine. all thanks to luxvesperis for translating the article. ^^
