Liz wasn't even supposed to be in her quarters. She realized she had a couple things still in there that needed to make the move to the new Scotts' residence (or just Scotty's quarters). She was about to move a box of general junk down to her office too, but when there was a bang on the door, she was a little worried to say the least. Opening the door to the room, she was greeted - or attacked, depending on how you look at it - by one of her closest friends.
"Mars!" she squealed, squeezing her friend and laughing like an idiot. "Oh my god, where have you been all my life?" Another laugh out of her and she hugged her a little tighter, "I missed you!"
"I missed you too! I'm sorry I haven't seen you sooner!" Mars managed to ease off her hug in fears she'd "crush" her friend.
"Right when I got back, I had to deal with getting settled back in, then I was thrown back into work, and... well, who cares!" She peered in, noticing the place practically empty. "Are you...?" Then realization struck, "OH, you're moving to Mr. Scotty's room, aren't you?" She didn't blame her, the higher ranked officers had bigger and better rooms.
"Do you need help? Are you free? What's up?" Mars's mind was working too fast for her to slow down. Too much energy did that to her.
Mars backed off a little though Liz wasn't totally happy. She was so excited to see her. It had been far too long. She started to explain the whole reason why they hadn't seen each other sooner and Liz waved her hand in the air to dismiss it. "Believe me, I know. It's alright. I wasn't exactly available, since the previous attack had me shaken still and I didn't want to leave my quarters. I had to have Scotty walk me to my office for a few days every morning. It was that back," she laughed, because she was starting to get over it. She still hated space, but it was what she had for now.
"Oh," she looked behind her. Yeah, it was basically empty, "Mr. Scott and decided it was best if Mrs. Scott moved in," she said raising her left hand to show her the blue and green, handmade ring that Scotty had done himself. It looked surprisingly like spun glass and no transparent aluminum."
Nodding, Mars forced herself not to say anything. She wasn't beating herself up for not being around for the disaster, but felt bad that her friends were so hurt by it and potentially could have died as a result. That scared her. But that was at least a month ago, and everyone seemed like they were moving on alright. Although curious, she knew it was a topic that died in the past and shouldn't be brought up.
"Ohhh!" She couldn't help the smile that took over her face at the ring. "It's gorgeous, Liz!" She grabbed her hand to get a closer look. "Oh, I'm so happy for you!" Secretly she was a little jealous of her friend, but that didn't cloud her happiness. "What a lucky man!"
