More seats filled, but Spock didn't look bothered by it as he kept to himself, quiet as usual while eating a replicated salad. The tastebuds on Vulcans weren't the best in the world, so he didn't mind the replicated taste like others complained about. What did surprise him though was a voice, an unfamiliar one, asked if it was okay to sit in the unoccupied chair across from him. Looking up, there was a lieutenant he didn't recognize, but that was no reason to tell her no. He gave her a little nod, studying her for a moment before answering.
"I will not mind if you wish to share the table with me." Spock made sure there was plenty of room for her tray on the table.

"May I inquire as to who you are and if you are one of the new recruits from the starbase over the planet Risa?"

Lt. Lynch. The name was somewhat familiar in his mind, probably recognizing it from the dossier PADD he had only a moment to glance over. "I am pleased to make your acquaintance, Lt. Lynch. I am Commander Spock and the head of the Life Science Division."

What was that she was eating? He had never seen a sort of meal quite like that one before. Sure, the commander had seen a number of sandwiches before - the Captain called his experiments sometimes - but nothing like what she had on her plate.
"May...I question the ingredients of your meal, Lt. Lynch?"

"That is...what is known as the 'triple decker', correct?" Not that he understood why they called it something along the lines of three packs of cards or different levels of a ship-like craft, but that was the Human way.

"It is logical to supplement the body with the nutrients in needs in a flavor that suits the brain's palate at the given moment." He rattled things off like a computer before picking up his utensils once more. "To make a sandwich large enough to solve the problem of hunger is logical, Lt. Lynch."
