A few shifts into her new posting, Fran felt she was getting the hang of life aboard the Enterprise and starting to make herself at home. She hadn't blown anything up, caused a crisis of any sort, or gotten herself lost. She counted that as a win.
The officers' mess was busy at this time of day. Fran made her way across the room, most of her attention on keeping the tray in her hands balanced. Free seat, free seat- there! She paused next to the seat in question and smiled hopefully at the person sitting opposite. "Excuse me, is it okay if I sit here?"
