What: Trying to rebuild the Elgemese file (Yes, Elgem. LGM. LOL.)
Where: Communications Department
Nyota had run over the subroutines at least 10 times, and she was still at a loss to explain the disappearing files. Files would appear and disappear, seemingly at random, and while most of them consistently reappeared, a select few of the language files had vanished completely. Even the backup files were gone. She hadn't been able to address the problem for a few days, as she was focused on the more concerning fact that someone was authorizing confidential files without security clearance. Since they hadn't been able to locate the source of the breach thus far, she had been working on a system to back-up all the files.
Now she needed to find a way to recreate the missing language files. Most of them were still there, and 3 of the 4 missing files she could recreate on her own, but there was no way she'd be able to recreate the file on Elgemese by herself. She'd heard a few words before, but that was the extent of her exposure. It struck her that it was actually quite a waste not to learn the language while she was on the same ship as Lieutenant Keenser. He agreed to help her, and despite her immense frustration with the situation, she was happy for the opportunity to learn a new language. At least one good thing is coming out of this mess.
She asked him to come down to the Communications Department, where she was going over the subroutines again. She wasn't technically supposed to be on duty, but it didn't matter. There was far too much to do. Something very, very odd is going on...
