Who: Gaila and Spock.
What: Something is up with the ship's sensors...
Where: Computer lab.
There it was again.
Gaila had been assigned to keep an eye on the ship's internal sensor system, as it was still malfunctioning in different sectors throughout the Enterprise. Nothing big at the moment, just little things like misreading room temperatures by a couple of degrees or detecting life signs in empty sectors, and the errors themselves were easy to spot and deal with. The cause for these malfunctions was hard to isolate, however. The technicians working in the lab were all getting worried that there might be one or more flaws with the coding, and could end up causing serious problems if not detected and fixed. They'd plowed through the source codes for days, and still they could find nothing. It was so frustrating.
Today had been fairly quiet, but then, after the Captain returned from the most recent away mission with a message throughout the ship explaining the situation, the cargo bay had shown several fluctuations. The cargo they had brought aboard seemed to be there on the sensor readings one second, and gone the next, flickering randomly in and out of existence. What worried her about this was the continuing occurrence of this fluctuation. It just wouldn't stop! And it was only that one package the Captain had brought with him back onto the Enterprise, none of the other cargo units in the bay were giving the same readings, they appeared the same as they had for days. What was happening? After several minutes of back and forth with her fellow officers, she finally just shook her head and got to her feet, finding the comm-panel on the wall and opening a channel. This was driving them all nuts, and they needed a cool and collected outside influence to figure this out. She figured the best man for the job would be available to help them. This part of the galaxy was fairly peaceful after all, no?
