As soon as I finished the last post I drove out to the festival site....I thought to sit at the participants entrance but there was too many cars on the Hwy and I hadn't called for permission to enter the gates. So I drove around to the patron gates and parked there....WOW! I was there for almost an hour before the neighborhood dogs started barking their collective heads off...
The experts were not lying about 2 meteors a minute.......granted ,there was an empty period that felt like it nearly 5 minutes, but what came next well & good made up for the lack of activitiy...I mean for a solid minute, everytime the eye would focus on one streak of gold, another would burst on the scene...the only thing I could find fault with was the sky location....it was more SouthEast than East.....and by 10:00 was almost directly over head.....imagine me, sitting in my car...with my head hanging out the driver's side window, looking straight up... as for greens and blues...I am not sure about the green- there were three that could have been green or blue. BUT there was one that was definately brilliant Blue! AMAZING!!!!!
Sadly, living in the city as long as I have, I had fogotten just how many stars one can see on a clear dark night in December.....my goodness, even with ut the light show, it was awe inspiring....makes me miss my time on the Mountains, sitting in an oversized rocker chair on the veranda of Beersheba Springs CampGround's Hotel with my thermas and blanket on a stormy night when all the power goes out and we would go to the porch to watch the lighting blaze across the sky.....
On the way home...I made a discovery that is going to make this year's rehearsal period and festival all the more fun for me, while making my wallet thinner.... Across the street from the Publix's in front of the new Kroger's shopping center there is a.......
