from charles de gaulle airport

This morning was one of the most stressful I’ve ever had. Travel days always are, so thank goodness this is my last one for a while. We did have an awesome free (included) breakfast at the hostital (hospital/hostel) then had to hustle to get all our stuff out of the room and check out. We successfully got a taxi to the train station Gare du Nord where Kristen was attempting to escape France via the Chunnel. That taxi was tense and intense. The price is clicking up as we’re trailing a garbage truck on its morning route and generally not going in the right direction. I briefly pondered taking an RER metro train to the airport since it seemed there were a lot of cars clogging the streets and causing traffic but realized it was even more crowded and underground, which involves stairs, which with my 30 kilos of luggage would not be fun. So I finally found a cab with an incredibly nice Haitian driver who indulged me by chatting in French even though I’m sure he speaks English. He got me to the airport and gave me his card; if I ever come back to Paris and am in need of airport transfers I am to call him. Plus he offered to email back and forth to practice my French. Probably the nicest cab driver I’ve ever met.
So I’m safely at Charles de Gaulle in *Satellite* 6. I forget how many there are but this place has satellites. Crazy. Thank goodness my baggage is checked through and I won’t see it until San Francisco in.... 17 hours? Who knows. I hope I can sleep some of them. Still not sure what my first meal in the States should be, for as much as we talked about it in Syracuse.
Well, ten minutes before boarding they’ve just announced what gate it is. Awesome, love Europe for that stuff. See you all soon!
