take me home, country road/united-lufthansa

so here i am, in a (very recently) hospital-turned-hostel on the outskirts of paris, about to go check out the eiffel tower. after that and dinner, probably at mcdonalds, the only thing left to do is get some sleep, have breakfast and put myself in a cab to charles de gaulle airport. wow. today was a bit rough, i am always exhausted after the night trains but of course couldnt check in to the hostel until 3:00, when we got here at 9:00 AM. since the weather was less than desirous we went to the galleries lafayette only to find ourselves completely overwhelmed. we fresehend up and recharged and ventured out into the cold where some of our favorite european stores were. i think we’ve been into a Zara every day in every city we’ve been to since Florence. anyway then we came back here for a nap after picking up a monster loaf of french bread for one euro. not bad for lunch/pre-dinner snack.

going home is such a weird feeling. i know im ready but thats partially because ive been expecting it. there are so many things that im excited about, seeing all my friends and family and being able to be in one place for a long time, or at least for more than a couple days. starting work on monday im a little lukewarm about, but it will be nice to be spending money instead of hemoraging it. also think im going to be very jetlagged, but perhaps a good ol’fashioned mani-pedi will pick me up, plus theres always starbucks at home.

happy fourth of july everyone at home! i wont be celebrating it here since the french/parisiens already hate us but im sure there is plenty of beer/chocolate fondu/fireworks to go around over there. kinda sad im missing it but ill see everyone very very soon!
