Wow, well, it's been a while again! Not a whole lot has been going on, I guess. The brownie fairy visited Jeff the night before last to balance out her karma for actually talking to her ex-boyfriend, Tim. Of course, when she talked to him, she bitched him out for literally an hour and a half... If I see someone completely fucking up their life, I think I owe it to them as a friend (no matter how they've treated me) to tell them so and to encourage them to cut it the fuck out.
Anyway, Jeff was utterly confused by the brownie, because I basically ran away. Last night, he got me back with his Christmas robot though. I watched V for Vendetta last night and really liked it, so it is now on my Christmas list. I think both of us are really satisfied with the way things are right now in our relationship. I just hope that things continue to do well once school starts and I have no time for anything! I am also proud of myself, as I feel I'm sort of laying myself out there as opposed to protecting myself and being defensive of myself, as I usually tend to do. I'm a little concerned that I haven't met any of his friends yet though... oh well, all in due time, I suppose!
I sing for Simon Estes again today in a mini-coaching/lesson. Leslie is coming with me to say hi to him and to hear his perspective. I am excited but nervous.
I am still plugging along on my schoolwork from last spring. Mostly I've been trying to get stuff done on my head/neck paper. I really should try and get some of my EBP paper written for Phonology.
I have also been working on Dr. Schmitz's opera music. I am still having issues with pitches in a couple places. He seems to think that he wants it to fall in between the genres of opera and musical theatre, but 1) I think the music sounds more and more like opera and not as much like musical theatre, as it seems a little too esoteric to be in that genre, and 2) not many musical theatre people could learn music this difficult pitch-wise. I think I have a pretty good ear, so if I'm struggling with it, it has to be fairly difficult, doesn't it? He has said that he's really pleased with the way things are sounding. I think I like the love duet from the opera that Adam and I sing together on the best...
Sandy heard me practicing the other day and gave me a compliment. She said there is much more shimmer in my sound now. She is going to try and make it so that I can audit the grad performance class thing they're starting to offer this year, and she said she'd be willing to do some coaching with me as well. EXCITING!! I really want to get my crap together and do some auditions and sound/look fabuloso!
Speaking of singing, something else that is pretty damn cool: I am finally getting my high F to be a little bit more solid! Maybe I'll be able to sing Queen of the Night next year at This is Entertainment. That would be lots of fun, and people would eat it up. Of course, if not, there's plenty else I could do!
Oh, and another thing: Friday I am singing for the other voice candidate. I think I'm going to offer the same music as I did last time, so that I can just keep things simple. It will be interesting to see what they say... I've been getting a lot more feedback lately, and I like it! I'm also excited to hear what the old studio people have to say this year when I sing, since I sound somewhat different now...
Anyway, that was a lot of talk about singing! Let's talk about something else! I am thinking of trying some new recipes out for the party I'm throwing on the 19th. I'm going to make That Stuff, since it's cheap and easy, but I've also been thinking about making bruschetta of some sort and these lemon pistachio biscotti that I found in my Betty Crocker cookbook. I'm running into two problems. One, I'm not sure how much food to make, and two, what to put on top of the bruschetta. I'm not a big fan of green olives, and the only recipe in my cookbook is for an olive tapenade. So I've been trying to find something else... still looking for something that sounds appealing...
Anyway, that's enough for now!
