Because I've been mopey this evening. Stream of consciousness style.
1) I have way cool technology right at my fingertips. My DVD player lets me play personalized streaming radio. I text my husband while he's away at work and play online Boggle on my smart phone. This is stuff that I couldn't have even conceived of ten years ago. We live in the future, friends!
2) My gardens have been very fruitful this year. I'm grateful for learning so much about the process of gardening in a desert and for having so many fresh vegetables to eat that I've helped grow. Our staple produce purchases at the supermarket have basically dwindled to fruit and avocados, and I'm hoping to reduce our fruit purchases once our fruit trees take hold.
3) I've really been enjoying
Unfuck Your Habitat" ("Terrifying Motivation for Lazy People with Messy Homes"). The gifs are cute, and it's a good reminder that I can conquer any task if I divide it up into reasonable chunks. The "Unfuck Your Morning" posts are helpful reminders.
4) My cats continue to be adorable. Right now, Jjigae is passed out with his whole face smashed into a motorcycle pannier. Brandon and I dote on those cats way more than we should.
5) I love my husband. He is sweet and funny and kind and smart. We'll be celebrating five years of marriage in a week and a half! Who knew that we would end up here just from a chance comment on Livejournal?
6) My job is reasonably solid. I'm not facing sudden unemployment anytime soon unless something catastrophic were to happen. I get paid a decent wage. We're even moving into the slower season, so maybe I'll be able to have more time to do life things like go camping and work on the house.
7) My body is strong enough that I can do things like run races and practice yoga and ride my bike to work. I spend a lot of time focusing on my body's imperfections and aches and not nearly enough time feeling grateful that I don't have cancer or Alzheimer's or amputated limbs.
8) I had a really good talk with my mom this Sunday. She found a journal that my grandmother had started on the day when my mom told her that she was pregnant with me. My grandmother wrote "I'm so happy. I hope she has a girl so she can grow up to be just like her." I can only hope that I will one day be as amazing as my mom.
9) I have a big, comfortable bed that I took the time to make this morning. I will crawl into it to sleep not long after I finish this post (actually, after I lay out the items necessary to unfuck my morning!); hopefully my husband will come home shortly and join me for some well-deserved sleep.
