Hello from Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica!

There's a passage in a William Gibson novel that describes jet lag as the time it takes for your soul to catch up to your body after a long flight. If such a thing exists, I'm pretty sure I know what it feels like.

The last week's been a jumble. West Virginia was amazing, but I didn't sleep hardly at all between the time zone difference and the various socials that went on during the week. I packed for Costa Rica in a sleep deprived daze and forgot my hiking boots. D'oh!

I made it into Puerto Jimenez this morning after an overnight flight that also did not encourage sleep. Flights were bumpy, especially with the tiny commuter plane we flew down south. Every time I started to doze, I dreamed of the wings snapping off.

It's hot here. Hot and humid. I thought I could deal with humidity, but this is an all-over gross stickiness that seeps through your scalp and oozes down to your toes. I don't consider myself much of a princess, but I couldn't wait to duck into this air-conditioned internet cafe after being out in the sun after about ten minutes.

Brandon is....somewhere, hopefully somewhere close. Last I heard, he was in Dominical about to head down along the coast. We're scheduled to meet up at Restaurante Carolina at 2:00 pm, which gives me two and a half hours to kill. How to pass the time somewhere that's air-conditioned?
