I think I might have discovered my new home in the US.
While North Carolina was rolling hills and horse farms, Indy was wonderful familiarity, and Kansas was full of great people, Arizona is definitely where it's at. Did you know that Arizona has over 300 days of sunshine a year?
Over 300. And it has blue, blue, BLUE skies and mountains and cheap avocados and nice temperatures in January. I seriously love it here.
Right now, we're in Phoenix at a friend of Brandon's. His friend has a rat named Nibbles and a bearded dragon named Spike that eats crickets. Also, he has five computers, so Brandon and I don't have to jostle for access to the internet. We're sleeping on two bunk bed mattresses on the floor, but otherwise, it's a pretty great situation.
Today we went hiking along Camelback Mountain. Brandon and I have different philosophies about hiking. He likes to power up to the top in one go -- no breaks for water, no time to look at the view, no namby-pamby rest stops (*grunt*). I, on the other hand, take a more leisurely approach. It's no fun to hike if you don't stop and enjoy yourself along the way, you know?
Aside from snapping pictures of saguaro cacti and jaw-droppingly beautiful sunsets, I've also been planning what a friend has termed "the re-wedding", or "The Wedding Part Two". I have my sights set on Maui -- if all goes well, it will be on Malakua Beach on May 22nd or 23rd. I've come to the conclusion that weddings are dumb and stressful to plan, so I'm trying to keep it as simple as humanly possible. If you'd like an invitation or an announcement, then please comment here. I'll contact you for your mailing address soon if I don't have it already.
This is why I wouldn't mind living here.
