Today was peculiar. First of all, I went around returning job applications and I also had a couple of interviews. As I was leaving the first interview, my headlights wouldn't turn on, my CD player beeped at me and shut off and my blinker was making noise but not actually functioning, so I called my mom and told her I was on my way home to get her car instead. I made it all the way to 76th Avenue, between Edmonds-Woodway and Dairy Queen, when it just shuddered and stopped. I sat there just long enough to call my dad, then three guys came up to my car and offered to push me into the Dairy Queen parking lot. I thanked them and accepted, of course. One held up the lane of traffic I needed to be pushed across and the other two pushed me in. I didn't get to thank them properly, really; they sort of disappeared as quickly as they'd come. Anyway, my parents both came - my mom with her car for me to take to the next interview, and Dad with his jumper cables. I had to leave, but they jumped it and my mom followed my dad in his car while he drove mine. It ran for a few blocks and then died again. Anyway, it got towed to the car shop we use, and I don't know how long it will be there. At least until Tuesday or Wednesday, since this is Memorial Day weekend. It may or may not be related to the accident. My parents are awesome.
Anyway, then Dillon - the guy I've been seeing for a couple months - came down to visit. We tried to go get gelato in Shoreline, but the place closed (not for the day - it's out of business), so we had to settle for regular ice cream. Then we went to the top of the Edmonds library, where we ate our ice cream, watched ferry boats and trains and generally enjoyed the obscenely beautiful weather.
Later on, we went back to my house, and he met my parents. Until he was 10, he lived in a house in Lynnwood - about equidistant from Jessica's house and Ichi Teriyaki. Mom asked what preschool he went to, and he said "Little Kingdom." Well, that's where she teaches, and that's where Trevor and I went. Anyway, to make a long story short, Dillon and I went to preschool together, and I took art lessons from Dillon's mom in the basement of their house (his mom is an art teacher, and even designed Little Kingdom's logo). I remember Dillon! We were five years old at the time, I believe. As my dad likes to say, it's a small world!
