Love and Obsession
I'm not saying that Valentine's Day is useless. I've always had a Valentine or a girlfriend each year. But there's just something about the holiday that feels so artificial. I mean if it takes a day like this to have everyone profess their love for someone in profiles, away messages, billboards, newspapers, etc... then what is the point of it in the first place. The person you love is supposed to know that year round. The most creative love stems from surprises and thoughtful undertakings. Otherwise it appears that you're just doing what everyone else is doing.
I really don't have a cynical view of romance, but i've always seen this holiday as useless and just a way for Hallmark to get rich. I mean if a date and sex is all thats gonna come from this Tuesday night then it's pretty much just an ordinary day isn't it? Someday, v-day will be more overrated than it is now - but enough so to be rolled over with a truck.
So in any instance, enjoy the holiday and let's watch for those November 14 babies!
