Such Is The Winter of Our Discontent

Jan 15, 2014 17:15

The past 2 weeks have not been great.

Remember last Monday night when much of the US was in a deep freeze? We ended up with frozen pipes Tuesday morning. I didn't go to class that day what with trying to make sure the pipes weren't going to burst.

That Tuesday of the dreadful cold, our heat pimp gave up the ghost. Yep, one of the coldest days on record, our heat pump broke down. Luckily we have gas logs in our living room so my sister slept in there for the past week.

The heating guys finished replacing the heat pump yesterday so our house is toasty warm again. And I slept in my bed last night!

Yesterday, my sister took one of our dogs to the vet. Our dog Zumi had stopped eating and was getting thinner and thinner. Two weeks ago, Zumi was examined by two different vets who couldn't find anything wrong. The vet who had Zumi this time did an ultrasound. Zumi had cancer. She's at peace now. I cried at the news. I still want to cry now but I have class in 20 minutes.

Zumi was one of our black labs and didn't have a mean bone in her body. She was shy but when she loved you, she loved you with all that she had.

It's a shock that she's gone but not really a surprise. At least she didn't suffer.

Now I better to get to class before I cry again.

Hug your pets and your family and your friends. (((Hugs from me)))
