HELLO!
How are you? How are things going? Working on anything fun?
The world is burning and everything is awful and I constantly worry about humanity as a whole, but I am going to be like the band on the Titanic and just play the fuckin' instrument until we all fall into the rising tides and drown. Or whatever.
But, for myself, I've been feeling like What am I doing? How am I spending my time and how can I use it better? And that brings me to writing. Which always seems like such a selfish occupation. Something I do for myself to keep sane. Then I read this from Neil Gaiman:
“My cousin Helen, who is in her 90s now, was in the Warsaw ghetto during World War II. She and a bunch of the girls in the ghetto had to do sewing each day. And if you were found with a book, it was an automatic death penalty. She had gotten hold of a copy of ‘Gone With the Wind’, and she would take three or four hours out of her sleeping time each night to read. And then, during the hour or so when they were sewing the next day, she would tell them all the story. These girls were risking certain death for a story. And when she told me that story herself, it actually made what I do feel more important. Because giving people stories is not a luxury. It’s actually one of the things that you live and die for.”

And now onto it, for there are stories to be told. Things to be made. Life to go on and ways we can carry on.
Lets share. Give us what you're creating, look upon what I've been doing (under the cut) to occupy my time when I'm not weeping for the planet and all its people. Let's build each other up.
So, last week I got another magazine in the mail--this time Real Simple--and am completely baffled to why I am getting it and Southern Living. I mean, WHAT?!? And so I read through the pages trying to figure out why someone thought this was something I needed and came up empty. What value could I possible get from it? I came up with arts and crafts of course.
I've made lost of paper beads with magazines in the past, but this magazine lacked many of the vivid colored pages that I like for me beads, so I went to Pinterest and found
this idea. Though, because I'm a huge geek and anyone else I am to make thngs for is also, I'm probably going to be using comic books for the outer, visible layers. ;)
I've been wanting to make reusable, washable and food safe baggies for snacks and sammies forever! I've tried PUL (Polyurethane Laminate), which is waterproof, but isn't food safe. I've tried nylon and it was food safe, but sucked the moisture out of food so the sandwiches were gross only hours later. Then I found food safe PUL. I am so excited about this, but it's way thicker than regular PUL and I'll need to work on it to perfect it.
And, since I started this post iin such a downer, I'll now end with sharing with you My Happy Place and Your Reward for Getting Shit Done:
