The Insanity of a Leaky Faucet: A Tale of Infinite Parts

Jun 11, 2007 14:41

Drip drip drip drip drip drip
Drip drip drip drip drip drip
I am immersed
In the sounds of a steady
Drip drip drip drip drip drip
The noise follows me everywhere
I am never ever alone
I am covered in water
I am breakfasting to a soundtrack
Drip drip drip drip drip drip
Drip drip drip drip drip
A glimmer of hope
Washed down the drain
Drip drip drip
Drip drip
Another, washed along with the other
As I eat, as I bake, as I walk through
my kitchen of high water bills
drip drip drip drip drip
Does it ever tire? Does it ever give way?
Nay. Nay.
Drip drip.
Steady and strong
If only I had the strength of my leaky faucet
I could conquer lands
I could slay giants
Or at least really tall people
I could become a doctor
A surgeon even
If I were as persistent as my leaky faucet
I could petition congress to make me
Queen of the United States
And in which, I could end any leaky faucet who dares to:
Ruin me, hate me, drive me insane
Jilt me, ignore me, lose my brain
For all I can do all the time
is listen
Drip drip drip drip drip drip
Drip drip drip drip drip drip
Drip drip drip drip drip drip
Drip.....drip?
Drip?!
Dr ip
Silence
Non-drip
There is no sound
The leaky faucet, is it really gone?
Am I really alone?
Are these my thoughts I'm hearing, for once,
instead of the sounds of my faucet?
Why does this ache?
Why does what I always thought I wanted hurt so much?
Did I not know what I had till it was gone?
Do I truly, ever so much, love you?
Don't leave me. No, do not leave me alone with my toast
I need your sounds. I need the constant drip.
Why have you gone?
I take back what I said! I spoke to quickly!
Come back!

...Drip.
Drip. Drip. Drip drip drip drip drip!!!
It has returned.

(NOTE TO READER: This is way, way, way better read out loud.)
