I have just finished the third book in the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. Don't worry the UK covers are (as ever) much better than the Tor ones.*

I just read his treatment of the twelve book of the sadly deceased Robert Jordan 'Wheel of Time' series. I found he's not so good a writer as Jordan, and it's hard picking up someone else's life's' work, but it was actually pretty decent. The writing clunked a bit in comparison to Jordan but at least the story is now going somewhere (unlike the previous six books... Jordan got carried away and then died before finishing!).

I've not read any Wheel of Time, so I can't really comment on that. I'm not surprised it's noticeably different, as you say it must be tricky to finish someone else's work, and Jordan was more experienced.
Still I think Sanderson's own stuff (what I've read of it) is good. He clearly puts effort into world building and his plots are interesting. I don't remember the characters in Elantris so much, but the crew in the Mistborn books were well done.
