Shine in the storm

Wow what a day... it seems all my academic problems just became lighter of a sudden today. Anyway just to summarize my academic performance so far... i'm ok with EEE 42 and EE 274. On both subjects, I only need a small percent just to past so they are pretty much covered. My EEE 43 is pretty much ok thanks to me getting a 91.67% on my 2nd exam, I got things pretty much covered as long as I perform well on the upcoming exam. EEE 44 is still a mystery where Puma Ley.. er Nerves will get our grades... I think he will base our grades solely on our attendance, 3 maybe 4 lab report and 1 practical exam... whatever I don't care much about this subject anyway. :p For EEE 107, my standing is a little bit below passing, but I think I performed well on the last exam to lift my exam average to passing. The problem, though, is that an average of 72% is needed for an exemption in the finals... and I don't think that is possible, and given the broad coverage of 107... the finals will definitely be hard. Lastly for EEE 41... ack... 'nough said. >_< So more or less, the subjects I am really having troubled with is 107 and 41, and they happen to be two of the subjects that I really need to pass. >_< For the last couple of weeks, I have been weighing my chances of passing these two subjects. For 107, I am hoping that Doc M lowers the exemption to 60%. As for 41, my average for the first 10% (HW and PS) is probably a little more than more 60%, it could be higher, but it would depend on my 4th PS. So I really need a high grade at my dc grade (the other 10% of the final grade). If i get 60% of the 10%, I will need an 82 in the 4th exam to pass, but if I get the entire 10%, I will only need a 62% to pass. >_< So I asked Sir Bry, my DC teacher on what will he base our DC grade on, and he said he was still not sure on how he will determine our DC grade. So for the last few weeks, I've been conditioning myself to really work hard on these two subjects. Then today...

My PS 4 for 41 is supposed to be due to day. Since I've been having the "every percent counts" mentality lately, I'm really determined to perfect this ps. So on last night, working on the ps, after a bit difficulty, I managed to get it the 1st number. Then when I browsed the next 4 items, I seemed lost on what to do on all of them. I didn't know how to work on #2, I can't do #3 because the "revised" slide the question was referring to doesn't seems to be revised, my answer in #4 was somehow horrendously long, and I have no idea on what to do on #5. I decided to focus on #4 first since I somehow had the idea on what to do but my answer was just ugly, I knew it was definitely long. I decided to sleep by around 12 and just wake up really early to finish it. Then while on bed, thinking on how to solve that number, around 30 or so minutes later, an idea strucked me on how to solve it, and after a few hours and a bit of browsing at the notes, I finally got the it! It was around 3 that time, so I decided to sleep and wake up later at around 5 to finish the PS... but I ended up waking up around 8. ^^;;; My 1st class, 43, was at 8:45 so I decided to just cut class and do my problem set. When I tried to solve #2 since I somehow got a hunch on how to do it, lo and behold, after browsing at the notes a bit, it turned out my hunch was correct. I was able to solve it in just 20 mins. Since I almost gave up on the remaining 2 problems, I decided to go to 43, albeit being late just to ask some of my classmates how they did it. So I rushed to class, skipping breakfast, and made it just 30 minutes late. Ok scratch out the "just" part. -_-; Anyway 41 came after 43, Doc S made and announcement to class that the PS submission will be pushed back to Tuesday next week, and the PS will be discussed there to. He also said he would check his "revised" slides. Yey more time to work on my PS. ^w^  Then at lunch break, I ate, hang around a bit, did my 107 hw then at 107, Doc M scheduled when our 3rd exam, presentation that will act as our 4th exam, and our final exam be. He also set the exemption grade to 60% of the pfg for the finals. All of a sudden, my probability of being exempted to 107 rose from a probability equal to me winning the lottery to a more probable... err probability. :p

Then came the DC for my 41. I came on time but the class before mine (same teacher and subject) is still having classes. Then 20 mins later they are still having classes. -_-; So I and another one of my classmate decided to enter. Turned out, the class was having a sort of a contest, and they were at the last half of the last problem. I then saw written at the board "Winning group will get a sure 10% DC grade!" O_O; I'm not really a competitive person, but that statement got my competitive spirit up. >:) So when the class was finished, Sir Bry noticed the two of us, and said that we will just not include the last problem in the contest. The contest was answering last year's 4th exam. The class was divided in 2, and 1 representative per group will answer one part per problem on the board (coaching is allowed from the groupmates), round robin, first to get right will get a score depending on the problem's difficulty and the group with the higest score wins and get a sure 10% DC grade. So as the class is preparing, I prayed a bit, knowing how important this 10% is for me. >_< So question 1, part a, my group made got it! Score is 0-3. Then I'm next, I was supposed to get the small signal gain, but when I finished answering, I quickly realized I was wrong, but thankfully, the other group was wrong too. ^^; Next part, the other group got it. Score was 3-3. Then on the next part, it was a bit difficult, but I was glad because I knew how to solve it, and coached my groupmate on the board into solving it and we got the score. Score was 3-8. The last part of #1, but the last group got it. Score was 8-8. The since it was almost time, a tie breaker was done, and the representative was chosen per group. I was chosen for the group. The problem was a cmos circuit, it seemed both my opponent and I were heading towards the wrong direction in solving it, so sir decided to gave out the states of the two mosfets to make things easier. However, it seems my opponent and I were still having a bit of difficulty, but after a while, I finally got the answer and our group won... and got our sure 10% DC grade. YEY!!! I'm rally grateful to God that he gave me a chance to improve my standing, and I'm even more grateful that I didn't waste it. I was also grateful the I can say I somehow earned the 10% since I did quite a bulk of the work. I'm really happy. T_T <- tears of joy.

Of course, I'm not counting my chicks before they hatch, I will definitely not waste this chance. Good thing that I have been at the study mode for the past few days, so all I need it to keep it up for a couple of weeks, and hopefully things will go out fine. Btw, I noticed that I made a similar post last sem at my old blog. I guess history repeats itself. ^^; The only difference is that this time, I won't be making the "treat people when I pass all my subjects" statement. So no treats to you. >:p Well It's not like I DID treat people last sem... Anyway... most of us are on the last stretch of this sem. Let's pray we all get out of this alive and in good shape. ^w^

Sore ja, jikai wo otanoshimi~ ^w^
